Amazing work there Simon, polishing is a proper ball ache and requires some serious elbow grease.

Superb transformation. I'm just glad my system is motorsport style and all brushed finish. I couldn't handle the shares in Autosol

Thanks Frayz, it is a right grind mate for sure, try holding an exhaust waist height for a while it makes your arms burn, I think another hour on the machine followed by finishing by hand will get it as good as I can. I'm not planning on polishing as much this time around but may have a go at a couple of parts.

There is a small chance the car will start to be stripped next week ready for prep and paint but we shall see how it goes, it will be as and when it can be fitted in.

These are the brackets for the rear Brembo Caliper conversion. I have brought a couple of sets home if anyone is interested, I believe these just suit the 4 door classic model.

Picked the gauges up at the local meet on Wednesday off Dave and Gemma and I have to say I'm well pleased with them. I took them into work today for my mate Clive to look over as we will be dropping them in the dash after Andy fits the sensors.

All being well the boost gauge will fit into the pillar pod that's already fitted in the car.

Very clever in the respect they partly pick up power from the radio electrics via the inline socket then we have a diaphragm to pick up oil pressure and a sensor for the temperature.

Very lucky they are the white face as well, I'm looking forward to getting these fitted when the time comes along with the knock sensor I have this will give me a great bit of info to help make sure all is well under the bonnet.

Hiya Simon, cheers for pm ing me regarding the brackets, they look great mate, currently I'm having the dilemma of sticking with the milleniums or going with 16" wheels. So brembos could be a no go. Gauges look well mate, super rare and very OEM I think, I went to look at an ra with these fitted and thought they were good, bear in mind I'm not into the whole gauge thing. Have you tried you'd ra on 16 and 17s ?

Hi Joe, as said re the brackets you know where a pair are if you need them and yes wheels will be the guide for your direction there.. I've only driven the RA with 16's and I found them ok, I had 18's on my old classic and 17"s in the winter and for what I use the car for both were fine. The 16's on the RA are the UK ones so look a bit odd really but jap spec ones look quite different, last time I ran 17's they had a 45 wall but the difference for me this time is I will be doing a 40 wall on them. For me I knew from the start I was going Brembo's and that then directs me where I go with the wheels and limits a choice of range too.

Thanks Frayz.... There's a few hours work there but at least now that's one thing off may list, there are a few other bits I'm planning on polishing when the cars apart when I have the opportunity as it will be easy.

Very nice brackets Si.

Are they suitable for fitting the Subaru badged 2 pot rear calipers as well?

Thanks micky, no they are designed for the Brembo 2 pot and OEM Brembo disc diameter only as far as I am aware that's all they will fit.

I was adamant I wanted brembos from the outset and I still am, so getting a car with the 17s and good ones at that! Was ideal, right up until I put the 16s on. The car felt right on these, that's the best way I can describe it! I've had both 17s and 16s on my previous classics, but never swapped from one to the next. It's thrown a right spanner in the works

Joe,

May be worth talking to Simon at Chevron Motorsport. They have a custom set of Compomotives made that fit the 355mm AP kit inside a 17" wheel.
Maybe they can get you a 16" wheel made that will accommodate a set of Brembos?

the brackets look like "copies" of the genuine Brembo GT conversion kit they do to fit STi calipers to a new-age WRX

nice to chat today Simon, project looks well

Good call Frayz customised maybe a good way for Joe to go plus he could then run the 17's as well over the modified Calipers if he wished to.

Incidentally do you know what offset your OEM Sti alloys are.... I just want to double check as I'm going to contact "somebody" re wheels and I bet that's the first question they ask, I'm assuming I can use yours as a guide as its the Calipers that have to be a controlling influence would you agree bud ?

Thanks Alyn pleased you like it so far and many thanks for your help and advice today, it's a honest man that tells me that I don't need everything on my list that was much appreciated indeed hopefully in the next few weeks I will have some more detailed info and pictures of the car when it's being stripped and worked on plus then all the prep work and re build to follow. Looking forward to my parcel next week as well

We found diagrams of the brackets on here in the early days of this mod and took them from that but I can't remember who posted then now but it gave us a base to plan from, I know there are bars and brackets available as well but with this solid design I feel a lot more confident.

Service from Alyn is superb Si.

With regards to the OEM offset, I'm unsure. My speedlines are ET48.
Not so much offset that is the issue, more spoke clearance mate.

Sorry for the thread hijack matey. I'm still in 2 minds what to do, I like the v3-6 sti wheels but the brake options are none existent. To get a decent brake set up under 16's I would need a "Motorsport" wheel. Maybe I should grow a pair stick with the milleniums and stick some big stoppers on there.

Thanks Frayz I'll take advise from the manufacturer initially then see what they say first..... Yes great help from Alyn today for sure.

No worries Joe it's all good info to know.... Maybe you should investigate what 16" rally wheels are available.... Off the top of my head Speedline Corse for one name then look to see what goes under that sort of design. As much as its nice to maintain the OEM year factor certain modern parts combine really well to add a twist.

std new-age STi 17" wheel is ET53 from memory.......but Frayz is correct its about spoke design & clearance not ET

i "may" have some 16" Speedline rally wheels that clear the STi Brembo?? will have to play with a car next week

Have you checked with K sport, ap and godspeed.

http://www.ksport.co.uk/order.asp?id=329&loc=2
http://www.apracing.com/product_deta...28mm_disc.aspx

Both offer a setup that fit under standard 16" wheels. Not cheap though, double the cost of brembos

Scoobysport used to market a Brembo kit for 16"s I've got one...but with bigger disks. The calipers are much lighter then the OE newage versions.

There used to be a kit from Red dot that had a set of brembos and used there discs and KAD also used to do a 304mm setup

So loads of options joe
