Thanks Frayz, it is a right grind mate for sure, try holding an exhaust waist height for a while it makes your arms burn, I think another hour on the machine followed by finishing by hand will get it as good as I can. I'm not planning on polishing as much this time around but may have a go at a couple of parts.

I hope Lee is takin inspiration
Small update as I stripped all the seats and boot content out of the car on Saturday morning, it's great even though it's in the workshop I still have access to do some of this more basic work myself. There is a small chance the car will start to be stripped next week ready for prep and paint but we shall see how it goes, it will be as and when it can be fitted in.
These are the brackets for the rear Brembo Caliper conversion. I have brought a couple of sets home if anyone is interested, I believe these just suit the 4 door classic model.

Picked the gauges up at the local meet on Wednesday off Dave and Gemma and I have to say I'm well pleased with them. I took them into work today for my mate Clive to look over as we will be dropping them in the dash after Andy fits the sensors.
All being well the boost gauge will fit into the pillar pod that's already fitted in the car.
Very clever in the respect they partly pick up power from the radio electrics via the inline socket then we have a diaphragm to pick up oil pressure and a sensor for the temperature.
Very lucky they are the white face as well, I'm looking forward to getting these fitted when the time comes along with the knock sensor I have this will give me a great bit of info to help make sure all is well under the bonnet.

Hiya Simon, cheers for pm ing me regarding the brackets, they look great mate, currently I'm having the dilemma of sticking with the milleniums or going with 16" wheels. So brembos could be a no go. Gauges look well mate, super rare and very OEM I think, I went to look at an ra with these fitted and thought they were good, bear in mind I'm not into the whole gauge thing. Have you tried you'd ra on 16 and 17s ?

Thanks Frayz.... There's a few hours work there but at least now that's one thing off may list, there are a few other bits I'm planning on polishing when the cars apart when I have the opportunity as it will be easy.

I was adamant I wanted brembos from the outset and I still am, so getting a car with the 17s and good ones at that! Was ideal, right up until I put the 16s on. The car felt right on these, that's the best way I can describe it! I've had both 17s and 16s on my previous classics, but never swapped from one to the next. It's thrown a right spanner in the works

the brackets look like "copies" of the genuine Brembo GT conversion kit they do to fit STi calipers to a new-age WRX
nice to chat today Simon, project looks well

Good call Frayz customised maybe a good way for Joe to go plus he could then run the 17's as well over the modified Calipers if he wished to.
Incidentally do you know what offset your OEM Sti alloys are.... I just want to double check as I'm going to contact "somebody" re wheels and I bet that's the first question they ask, I'm assuming I can use yours as a guide as its the Calipers that have to be a controlling influence would you agree bud ?

We found diagrams of the brackets on here in the early days of this mod and took them from that but I can't remember who posted then now but it gave us a base to plan from, I know there are bars and brackets available as well but with this solid design I feel a lot more confident.

Sorry for the thread hijack matey. I'm still in 2 minds what to do, I like the v3-6 sti wheels but the brake options are none existent. To get a decent brake set up under 16's I would need a "Motorsport" wheel. Maybe I should grow a pair stick with the milleniums and stick some big stoppers on there.

std new-age STi 17" wheel is ET53 from memory.......but Frayz is correct its about spoke design & clearance not ET
i "may" have some 16" Speedline rally wheels that clear the STi Brembo?? will have to play with a car next week

Both offer a setup that fit under standard 16" wheels. Not cheap though, double the cost of brembos
