Yesterday's job in work before I got snowed in at home today was to drill the front discs for the classic fitment, my mate in work Clive is a very handy engineer and he turned a spigot down on the lathe to drop into the disc centres since we had a classic disc to use as a template, we then bolted the two discs together through the two existing threaded holes and drilled through the 100pcd holes for spacing.
Multi fit discs now......
This is a picture of my old rear set up as these were also drilled out.
Again a few old pictures simply of an old mock up bracket to show how the rears will be mounted, the cap heads were just on the mock up.

Brakes indeed yes...... Your a founder member of the rear brembo club as well, there was a handfull of us at that time fitting them, I'm taking all of my contacts, experiance and knowledge I learnt from my uk classic and feeding them within reason into this one

Another small parts gathering update as one of the local members had a set of Lamco gauges for sale.
All the senders are included as well and I'll pick them up at our next local meet. I'll make an alloy panel and mount them into the centre console.... I've got a plan in mind they come mounted in a late version pod which I'll sell at a later date.

Are they 52mm Si??
If so something Like this will do or perhaps get clive to make something like it
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JDM-52-mm-...8a9942b&_uhb=1
Or are you going to go the route of using the top vents??
the only thing I will say is the double din for early car is very low on the dash, perhaps to low to be usefull,

I know what your saying Danny with the position but I may have to compromise on this one, I don't want to loose the air vents really so initially I'm thinking of removing the power socket and like the new age drop a double socket out the back into the footwell and also dump the ashtray, then I can drop the pocket down one and the radio can then go in the middle making space on the top.
I'm thinking of Plastidip finish on the gauge mounting plate and possibly the plastic centre consol which will match it all up. The boost gauge will replace what is already there on the window pillar.

I havn't got much to play with.
3mm spacers would put them in the same position as the PFF-7's but I think I need more then 3mm to clear the Brembo's. Also not sure I like the idea of spacers.

Sell em' and get the PFF-7's refurbed which I do like the look of or space out the Ultralites.

Personally I would sell the Ultralites and get the PFF's back on I much prefer the look of those but more importantly I'm not a fan of spacers I know many do but I'm not comfortable with them either. Also with the 225 tyres you may find you chuck a load of muck up the sides of the car with spacers fitted.
To clear the Brembo's by 2.5mm I needed a 9mm shim with the Ultralites.
Without shims the PFF-7's clear the Brembo's by 11mm.
So in total the difference in clearance between an Ultralite 7.5" ET48 and a PFF-7 8" ET51 is 17.5mm which is quite shocking.
It goes to show how important a wheel style is when selecting an offset.

On my Hawk STi on the OE 17's one of the sticky balancing weights was clipping the Brembo. It sounded like there was a stone in the tyre. It wasn't until I took the wheel off to check that I saw dark dust on top of the caliper that was lead dust from the weight.
When I put the wheel back on I made sure the weight was above the Brembo to check clearance and pushed the wheel away whilst tightening. There felt like there was very little, if any movement of the wheel on the hub, which you would expect. But there must of been enough as the weight didn't click on the caliper after that.

Frayz I can't wait to start the snow set it back a little as there was over a foot of it where the car is hopefully I can get a paint plan together soon and that will then trigger what happens next, at the end of the day if it takes 3 months or more then that's fine as I want to get things right first time here and now I have the opportunity to get it all sorted a lot easier that if the car was home and I struggled my way around it in the weather.
The timing belt has been changed so far and a few other jobs that are lined up will come together as the car is stripped down a touch.
Anyone looking for a full suspension mtb ? I have a really nice Whyte E5 that will be going up for sale to help fund the car
