Bit slow going recently, finally wrapped my headers, the white wrap on the headers is some cheap stuff I got to practice with as I have never done it before, then used magma wrap on the headers themselves, not bad for a first attempt, other than punching myself in the face when I was tightening a steel band and the pliers came off!!

So been up to see Dave this weekend, been a while since I seen the old girl and it was good to catch up on the progress. As we are then the 6 speed transmission is pretty much in and the rear end has been polybushed, along with upgraded bushes in the 6 speed linkage.

Here are a few little pictures;

RCM Oil catch can and fuel lab fuel filter now in place;

Oil cooler in place

Braided brake lines going in from the ABS pump

And dash is out being flocked at the moment!!

Expect that was annoying!

I didn't wear gloves either, luckily the magma wrap is dead smooth and doesn't itch.

One of the main reasons for going braided was so we could route the pipework where we want, the abs pump has been moved forward to allow extra room for the intercooler pipe and air filter. The standard hard lines work just as well from what I've been told.

It also looks awesome

Have to completely agree. I've ditched the ABS and the copper pipework is looking a touch shabby in some areas. Also about to DIY a parallel fuel mod and I have some new rubber hose sat there - whilst it may look subtle and be a lot cheaper braided is the dogs danglies

Little update then, and as ever projects like this come with a headache, this time its the rear brakes!!

So when I first had the k sports fitted, I tried being a clever dick and had a go at using the handbrake to slow the car down instead of the footbrake, not instead of, just seeing how much difference it would make etc and of course the brake lights don't come on, what I didn't appreciate is that the larger handbrake shoes I had sourced were made of a harder material and cut through the relatively soft alloy that the rear bells were made of, leaving me with no hand brake, and I mean no handbrake

So whilst my car was with Ryan getting the splitter repaired we sent the rear bells off to godspeed who fitted a steel insert, which when we fitted with the standard handbrake shoes worked wonders, happy days.

Now that was all fine on the 5 speed set up, but now I have the sti set up the handbrake shoes are bigger and yes, you've guessed it the bells with the inserts wont go over the handbrake shoes

Don't know if anyone has enquired about the price of new bells from Ksport but **** me they're expensive, was actually making more sense to sell what I had and buy a complete new set of brakes, but then by the time you've added in pads etc it was getting ridiculous, also adding to the headache was that K sport have changed the design slightly since mine were made .....

So I phoned godspeed and found that they can make me a set of bells at a very reasonable price when compared to a pair of new bells, so I will have a lovely new pair of alloy bells on their way soon and then the 6 speed install can get finished, and no more trying to be cocky ..

On a more positive note I got my dash back from 'The Flock Doc' cant wait to get this installed with the gauges it should look great
