My Classic scoob...

Why would youneed to replace it? My cosworth baffle plate fitted in the 2.5 sump.
Yeah this hissy fit was no where near the best thats for sure, but it was a pretty good one! The best one involved me getting so pissed off trying to do an oil change on the starlet i ripped the whole engine and box out lol

After a proper faff around with the wiring side of the ramp, I have it working.
I ordered a single-3ph inverter, installed as per instructions, but turns out that rather than 415v 3 ph, this will only put out 230v 3ph (I have never used 230v 3ph before, and never will again it is that odd) this meant all of the existing controls in the ramp which I had planned on reusing would not work with this inverter, unless it sees the motor directly the computer will not let it run.
So I have had to reconfigure the motor from Star to Delta start/run. So I got that sorted and the motor was running but it wasnt working with the controls I had wired up.
After quite a few hours of head scratching and reading the technical manuals and programming it with the laptop, it turns out that you have to link the digital inputs for a constant speed application.
Why does this not say to do this anywhere in the manual or the software?!?! So 10 minutes later, I fitted the links and hey presto a working ramp.
I levelled up the arms and fitted the drive chain and what not and gave it a whirl!

Thats my other toy that I havent been able to part with because I love it so!
1.3ltr turbo with an externally gated TD04 turbo on it about 180hp at the moment, but with a piggy back ecu will see 250. I havent ever felt the need though, 180 is plenty fast enough in this!
It is pretty enormous spec. but I just dont have the time or space for it anymore... I have a 1.5ltr engine for it that was a nightmare but it is for sale now!

Ive had it for about 7 or 8 years i think!
Had some proper ups and downs with it, but it was my first "fast" car. It was a proper weapon, and I really enjoyed it, and I am gonna be so sad when it leaves, but needs must.
Ive put it up for £3200 but all I am getting are idiots asking to swap for a ford fiesta!
Ive only ever seena couple on the road, they are proper JDM goodness!

Well today didnt quite go as planned, my mates evo mr fq 360 got stuck on the ramp it seems the tensioner wasnt putting enough tension on the chain and when I put the heavy car on it the chain came off.
So I need to make up a new bracket to add more tension, I got he chain back on and got the car off the ramp, what a nightmare!
Then my old man smashed a tooth and ended up having to go to a+e because our over paid useless NHS dentists dont work on holidays....
So that was the end of todays exploits. Tonights exploits are BEER.
Tomorrow is some Tig welding and doing bits and pieces on the starlet

So, after rolling home at 3am this morning, waking the Mrs with my "stealth" cooking and going to bed. I am then awake at 6am because I had to give her a lift to work, but me still been rather pissed had to ring the old man to sort it out for me. So god knows how much beer down last night, up at 6am, and in the workshop by 7.
Still hanging out of my *** but decided I best get the cars out ready for Roy's visit today to look at his manifolds that are blowing. So ive just started to get the scooby down and the chain on the ramp snapped. So now the scooby is 3ft off the ground with no way of getting it down until the chain is repaired. With Roy almost here already so it looks like ill be doing it on a jack instead.
AWESOME! Living the mother****ing dream!
I knew I should have stayed in bed.....

your not having much luck with the ramp, i know when mine has played i have been able to wind it down from the big nuts on the top of the posts its takes a while but should get you there.

Yeah if it comes to it ill do it manually, luckily the car is a way off the ground so i can at least get to the chain this time lol.
I am not quite sure what is going on with the ramp I cant find much info on them to be honest.
I assumed the first time was due to not enough tension in the chain, so I put a bracket on to put more tension in. Now is presume there is too much tension, but im really not sure!
It would be handy if there was a manual or a guide with it!

Ive been having a few thoughts about the subaru over the last couple of weeks and want some peoples opinions...
To get this ready for some track days this year, I need to get the turbo back from Turbo technics. I need to rebuild the 6sp as it is crunching on up and downshifts even with double de clutching. I then will need a remap and clutch switch fitted by engine tuner, and fix my water temp gauge.
This is the minimum I need to do to get the car back on the road this year.
Since having the car up on the ramp I have been looking over the underside and it is absolutely disgusting, there is a serious rust problem on one rear arch. The subframes and diffs etc are hanging.
Now to repair the rust and sort out the problems is going to be ££££ and having the car off the road for a long time.
I am tempted to get a shell and re shell the car into a known solid shell, this would also give me the chance to tub the arches, do all the underside properly seam weld it, paint everything up and then just swap the running gear engine and cage etc over.
Any other suggestions?
Repair, re shell or A. N. Other?

Probably more cost efficient to reshell, if you can find a good one at the right price.
2 door shells are going up in value, so worth bearing in mind if you went down that route.
406 silver 2 doors are rare, 4 doors were common as muck but getting harder to find, so give me your front wings when you reshell it.

Ill bare it in mind, thanks, if i can find a sub 1k shell then i would be keen to do that. It would mean I can prep everything without taking the car off the road.
Then over the winter when we wont be doing track days I can take my time and swap the shells over, I dont mind on colour, as it will need respraying anyway!
BTW that is a pretty good time there, where did you manage that?

Why didn't you mention it earlier I got a ramp sat here doing nothing that works off direct 240 would have saved you a headache
Didn't realise your work space is as big as it was! If I'm ever down that way I'll have to pop in for a gander and I know where I'll be heading if I break down your way
I'm just looking at something similar to yourself now. I want a white blob and a shell may be on the horizon, it's either that or possibly paint it, one thing I do know is I like them in white
Just go nuts and buy carbon panels super duper light then

One in white, £1500 for the shell and all panels which isn't too bad a price all things considered.

You're always welcome to pop in mate, the kettle is always hot. I might invest in a break down truck hah!
I like white, I a really thinking about a dark RB5 type grey. But who knows!
SO why are you not using the ramp?
lol, what track was that at?
I am really leaning towards a new shell to work on just due to the work involved means I dont need to take the scoob off the road until it needs swapping. So has anyone got a decent classic shell?!
