They probably messed up a few blocks and don't have the stones to man up and admit to it, some pretty bespoke CNC stuff going on with the 2.5L.

If that's the case it must be costing them a fortune in parts!

I don't really care...

Was promised the block in approx a month, its now been almost a year.

A few weeks ago it was again "almost" ready, but haven't been able to get in touch with them since then.

Test fitting to the dummy engine...

A few bits while waiting for the block...

Key's racing 350mm buckskin steeringwheel and Works Bell Rapfix II hub and WB short boss.

Custom radiator with AN20 connectors for the coolant lines.

Welded an AN10 oil return to the sump and Tial V-band wastegate flanges to the manifold.

Yeah, got the 2.2l block back with no work done to it.

Did the main bearing machining and 14mm stud machining ourselves, having a 14mm compatible stress plate made up, then it's off to another machinist for the bore and hone.

Made a little tool for the thrust bearing mod.

Ouch, that's rather disappointing after all that waiting. Glad it's moving forward now though. Great job on the homemade tools!

Thanks

Waiting for a few bits and pieces from RCM (Timing belt and timing belt guard that I want to replace just to be sure)

Then it's time to get it in the car and start hacking up the front end to fit the radiator and intercooler, make some intercooler piping, make a downpipe and screamer pipes as well as figuring out the necessary oil, coolant and misc line routing.

Fit the interior, roof scoop, new front axles, new rear brakes, and finally drive it around again

Few weeks?

Not long considering the other delays you've had getting this back together. Bet you can't wait to get back behind the wheel, even for running in miles!

It's been a sorry state of affairs regarding this project. I just don't have the time.

That said, its finally at a stage where I can't do any more to the car, and it's being dropped off at a fabrication shop to finish the intercooler core and intercooler pipes, after that it will be ready to start.
So, fingers crossed, I'll have it dynoed by next month

In the mean time, I've finally go the closed decked and sleeved EJ25 block done, this will be the basis of my spare engine.

Added a 75mm throttle body as well as RCMS billet TGVs and ID 1750X injectors.

Well done. Was thinking about this build last week funnily enough and wondering how you were getting on. Glad it's finally coming together again.

My Chinese Wiggins clamps leaked so had to order some LPS Alphaloc clamps.

intercooler done. Charge piping done. Screamer pipes done.
Alternator tensioner done.
Radiator fan installed. Coolant hoses done.

Just have to mount the coolant overflow tank. 4 port ebcs and plumbing plus redo the fuel lines and it will be ready to start.
Front bumper also needs trimming to make everything fit....

Keep on forgetting about this thread.

The EJ22 had an issue with oil pressure declining steadily, so pulled that motor and it is still sitting in the engine stand, untouched.

Threw the EJ25 together with very basic heads. Had the ABW arches fitted and repainted the whole car. Finally got it strapped to the dyno yesterday with just 1.7bar of boost.

What a ride, some serious ups & downs in this build. I admire your patience...

Interesting headers, were they custom made?

The headers are made by Hayward and Scott, but they needed to have wastegate flanges fitted to them over here. I.e. they don't come complete.

If/when i remake them I'll have a local shop redo them with smaller ID piping. It's 40mm now, which as can be seen from the dyno graph is plenty, no issues even at 9700rpm, but 36mm ID might help with spool a little more.

It is yes, haven't had the time to rebuild the 2.35 engine, so don't have anything to put back in if the 2.5 let's go.

Hence keeping it at "low" boost.

Once I get that motor done I'll strap it to the dyno and see what it takes to break 1000hp, or if something else breaks first...
