I thought I had asked this .... but searched and cannot find it - I probably deamt it! :rolleyes:

I had Tom Tom live traffic, it has now expired.

£47:50 for another year seems excessive.

I have the RAC App on my phone for traffic, which works well - but I would like something which could talk to my Tom Tom 825 Go Live .... looks like Tom Tom will soon not be supporting HD Taffic (so don't want to throw good money away)

Anything which will talk to my Tom Tom yet not cost me silly money?

You can get it for free if you look around on the tinterweb :)

I can access TomTom Taffic on my laptop ......

But, it seems that TomTom have to send some code to my SatNav - how can that be free on the tinterweb?

And, are these leads you can buy for a TomTom (which use RDS Radio Signals) any good? It's a device which sits between the charger and the TomTom.

The rds leads for traffic are crap to be precise, you can't beat tomtom hd traffic and there's no other way, legal or illegal methods as the new tomtoms have a different file system

Boomer ...... you really need to move on in your life - but, just for you,that's still in the car for emergencies, still working, batteries dead now - but car lead operates it just fine .....

I liked HD Traffic. Although, I must say, it didn't work for 20% of the time I wanted it!

And I did think that the rds lead was crap.

You say there is no legal method of getting HD Traffic - I guess you mean other than through Tom Tom (in that they are still supporting HD Traffic?).

The RAC is good ... and free, of course.

Why does a Tom Tom App cost around £30 including Traffic, yet to send my Sat Nav a code to operate HD Traffic they want £47:50? ..... doesn't make sense.

Possibly to cover data costs as I could be wrong the hd traffics have SIM cards inside.

My Sat Nav has a SIM Card ....... which was paid for with the unit.

£47.00 for traffic updates.... Pffffff... Well I just ordered a tomtom with free live services for a year,but if the traffic is going to cost that much alone,don't think I'll bother...

Yeah, I had it for 1 year - it was handy when it worked ....... sometimes I may have travelled for over an hour before it worked ...... that is annoying when you are sat in a queue!

£47:50 for another year is simply daylight robbery ......

Better off staying with my snooper,free traffic updates using the ariel...
Google search I wouldn't use or the weather service.But speed cameras and traffic I would,both free on snooper.
How much is the cameras on tomtom ?

Think I'll send it back and get another snooper,had this one seven years and never let me down,just the battery isn't charging now but still working via the 12/24v plugin.

I'm more than a little cheesed off about the cost of renewing the HDTraffic

£47.50 does seem too much, but each time I'm diverted down B roads by my TT to avoid motorway problems it's a price I'm glad I paid. If your journeys are time critical, as mine often are, that price is almost irrelevant.

traffic hd is well worth the money for what i was doing , driving up and down the country it saved me a lot of hassle .

Now i don't do as much travelling i don't subscribe no more as its expensive for the odd trip now and again

I use the traffic just a few times a year ..... that's why its probably not worth it for me.

Well I'm p1ssed..decided to give it a go,activated the live services and thought good so far.
Now all I get is a message,live services unavaliable,try again later...didn't have this trouble with a snooper.

Tomtom my arse...

You'll get that message more times than not ....... after paying £47:50 a year, imagine getting that message and then come up behind a 15 mile/5 hour traffic hold up on the M3!

At £10 a year I'd buy it ...... but I refuse to be bent over my dashboard and rammed silly by TomTom

I'm surprised, I do many thousands of miles a year with a TT and have never once had that problem. Perhaps I've just been lucky, and it has saved me hours of lost time and well worth the money. But I guess they're just not intended for poor people :D

And yet again more issues,no volume this morning.
Searched google for problem,ahhhh turn the unit off,then hold down the power button until you hear the crappy drum sound.
And I still got no live services,signed into tomtom and everything.
£300.00 I paid for this sh1t.might aswell stick it up my bum crack...
Going back to a snooper.
And I be contacting tomtom and telling them what pile of junk I wasted 300 notes on..not that they probably give a sh1t...

I attached my wife's tom tom to my computer a couple of years ago, and it asked if I wanted to update it

Always suspicious of this constant "updating" of things against my better judgement I clicked yes

Great, now the tom tom did not Zoom when you slowed for a junction - a really really useful feature, but I gained some totally useless features instead but lost the auto zoom function

8 odd months later I connected again updated and the zoom feature returned - but irritating nonetheless

Well when you pay for something you expect it to do what it meant to,can understand some products may have the odd fault with the thousands that are made.
I've done everything needed to set this sat nav up,and it's not as though the tomtom website gives much info,don't even say if the live services are having tech problems,or it's something faulty on the sat nav I'm guessing.
Try another update when I get home..

I've had garmin,navman,snooper,first tom tom and all I done the last two days is p1ss about with it...

Do people still use stand alone sat navs?

I have CoPilot Live on my Galaxy S4 and it came with a years free traffic subscription. It's been great, just a shame the BM has built in sat nav which whilst it is inferior to CoPilot (RDS traffic info) I tend to use most of the time due to it being integrated :( Car makers take note (esp BMW) just fit an Android tablet into the dash please and then we can choose our own sat nav. Think the traffic subscription was about £10 a year after the free trial. You provide your own data through the phone but I had plenty available on my contract.

The 50 quid to subscribe to traffic is a joke.

I got rid of my go live 1000 as fed up with having to pay 100+ a year for maps and traffic. got rid of it for 65 quid.

replaced it with a go 400 (at a cost of 80) with free lifetime maps and traffic and if I care its 25 a year for speed camera's. So over a few years I'd save a packet with the 400.

Shame its not quite as functional as the 1000, but it does enough for what I need with just a few niggles TT are apparently addressing.
