Engine management light

This popped on yesterday and I took it to a mates who plugged it in and said its my cat that needs replacing.

I have a 2005 WRX STI blob eye, what replacement cat would you suggest?

I currently have a sports cat so would like to replace with another sports cat.

Thanks

what was the actual code

Matt_STi 14 March 2014 03:46 PM

Ah - Not sure. I'll get my mate to plug it in on Tuesday when I see him, so will update then.

catalyst efficiency below threshold by any chance?

Matt_STi 14 March 2014 08:19 PM

I presume so. Will update when I get I plugged in again

I bet it just wants mapping to suit.. If it's like most sports cats it will have removed the 2nd cat & is probably confusing the ecu. Usually a mapper can map this out so it doesn't bring that fault code on

The sports cat has been on for a while and was mapped with it on though? It was on and mapped prior to me purchasing the car though.

Ok. This week my mate who's got an 04 sti has a decat downpipe on his & his is mapped but the eml keeps coming on with that fault code. He's been in touch with a mapper this week & he can map it out so it stops it from coming on. Ur cat may not be at fault and could just be something as simple as that. I wouldn't buy a new cat just yet

Matt_STi 14 March 2014 09:01 PM

That would certainly save me some money, is there a way to find out if it actually is the cat?

Gambit 14 March 2014 10:27 PM

Yes get the actual fault code

Matt_STi 14 March 2014 10:39 PM

Will do. Hopefully getting it done on Monday so will update then!
