05 WRX Clunking noise from nearside rear

Not sure what it is really but I do suspect either a drop link or the damper itself.

As I drive off, it feels like something becomes 'unstuck' and then there is the odd dull 'clunk' as I drive a long. Will have a look at the weekend. Any suggestions on what to look for?

Car is running standard suspension.

If I need to replace the dampers, any idea where I can then from other than Subaru?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the rear shocks. Ive got similar on my 07 wrx.feels like it settles into its self when i stop or pull off. Dealers going to split the cost of a set of BC coilovers and fit them for free as its under warrenty.
Standard subaru shocks going is a common occurance it seems!

May also be the rear diff taking up the slack in the crown wheel. Jack the back of the car off the ground and move a wheel back & forth to see if you can replicate the noise.

Could be a rear wheel bearing too, my blob was exactly the same until i changed the bearing.

If you are having the coil overs fitted make sure you get the 4 wheel alignment done.

Andy.

Thinking of going down the route of BC Coilovers.

Neil at slowboy racing tells me that they can be set to ride the same as oem springs and shocks.

Is this true? Or am I going to break my back everytime I go over a bump.

At £670 fully set up ready to fit, I don't think that is too bad.

Let me know how you get on with them, I'm currently on the border line mark of going for them!

I hated them, dont think they suit a new age at all, could never get the settings right.
