stuart148 08 March 2014 07:20 PM

Worlasshasansti 08 March 2014 07:30 PM

Ffs I was just going to ask for a pic of the inside of the glovebox and one of the o/s/r wheel arch liner :brickwall....:D

I've just sold a evo 9....the amount of messages 'can you send me pictures of the underneath?'......'door handles for ring scratches '.......errr no , come view it, lay on my ****ing drive in the rain and have a look yourself.

I had one lad who said he wanted it but needed to 'compare' loans....no offer to view/deposit etc , I sold it a week later and then he emails me calling me every name under the sun as his loan has now cleared and he wants it??, cheeky ****er even said 'what am I supposed to do with the loan money now?'....my reply was to pop down with the cash in his hand and talk to me like a bell end he assumes I am

Been quiet since :lol1:

It's a nice car , get it on autotrader.

Forums attract dreamers

I know theres nothing worse than people pulling your chain. Ive had it happen many times myself, including getting told a sob story then being called every name under the sun when it sold to someone else.

One thing from another point of view is that, aside from the typical timewasters, some people may be interested but in a situation like I was when I was looking for an Impreza Type R. I made lots of genuine enquiries (fully willing to follow through) but something in my gut didnt seem right with spending the amount I would have to spend on a clean example, on what was essentially a fairly old, low mod cons, weekend rocket, when I wanted a nice daily car. When the widetrack STI came up, I instantly dropped everything, went to view it, and put a deposit down that night.

Maybe some of these people genuinely think they want the car but there's an unknown factor like distance or cost putting them off deep down, and they're asking for pictures of the boot lock and the rear footmats in the hope it convinces them to say yes?...

But I agree, selling a car is a nightmare nowadays, with people saying "whats the lowest you'll take for it", without having seen it. When you know they'll start knocking the price down AGAIN in person cos it has stonechips etc haha.

Worse time waster I had was a guy come test drive my Focus RS in the rain, and after the test drive, said he didnt like it because it wheel spinned to much on boost!:brickwall Was at my house hours talking about the Escort Cosworth he used to own:sleep:!!

Try selling something in classifieds, 'YES I WANT IT, PM PAYPAL DETAILS' - then never heard from again. Majority of the time its low post and new users true, but there have been a couple from more regular uses....and the lets offer you half of what you put it up for. I mean, whats the point?

L.J.F 09 March 2014 12:39 AM

Most people don't supply enough pics in the advert or they are poorly taken and can come across as hiding something. There is nothing worse than a advert that doesn't paint the full picture and you then have to ask for more info or pics.

stuart148 09 March 2014 01:15 AM

l.j.f are you looking to buy a subaru ?

L.J.F 09 March 2014 01:21 AM

Yeah I am looking for another well spec'd impreza so I can do track days.

LUCKO 09 March 2014 01:29 AM

you cant mess sellers around, i never messed around when i purchased mine and i wouldnt expect the same done to me and wouldnt allow it to be honest

turn up with the £ dont say your turning up with the £ simples

stuart148 09 March 2014 01:32 AM

mate your posting on every ones sale threads , weather it be well spec'd or standard

if your looking for one , pm them for more info , go see it , buy it
it's simple

L.J.F 09 March 2014 01:43 AM

Yeah I am looking at a couple of cars on here, plus giving feedback on others- so what?

I also have a car advertised on here, is that against the law too?

ditchmyster 09 March 2014 07:13 AM

I see the reverse side of the coin too, every fcuking toss pot selling a scoob says it's mint like new best subaru ever, then you travel 200 miles and spend 6 hours on trains one fcuking way WITH £5/7k in your pocket to view a pile of **** with scuffed bumpers and whining its tits off gear box, cum stained seats boot full of water and rusty arches, but hey it's mint. I soooooooo very nearly punched one cnut when I was looking for my type r, i really had to see the funny side or i'd have fcuking stamped on his face i was so mad.

but if your not intrested in buying the car in question , why ask about it been mapped for uk fuel , pics etc etc

and it's not against the law to advertise your car on here

but what if some annoying to$$er started asking questions and asking for info more pics etc etc
but had no intention of buying ???

L.J.F 09 March 2014 09:11 AM

I am interested in the silver Type R though along with the two RA's and another car on here that I am off to see during the week. As Ditch says, no point in travelling across the country to find out it's a lemon or it's not as described! A properly written up ad with decent pics will reduce the silly questions and need for extra pics.

To be fair Stu maybe these people asking for more pics are actually helping you. Your advert does need better pics, you're asking alot of money for an average specced type r and your advert is in all honesty pretty crap.
A really good advert is the most important part, its what gets people to view your car. When im buying a car I want to see 10+ pics from all over the car and a fantastic write up. You've had it advertised for a while now, maybe if you had a better, more detailed advert you'd of attracted more people.
And another tip, rather than offering to cover people travel costs up to £250 you'd be better off just reducing your price by that much.

No offense meant with the above but I know what works and what doesn't when selling a car. According to certain people on here my last car was 2K overpriced, funny it sold within 48 hours for just a hundred quid under the asking price. I guarantee my advert is what sold it.

53 10 March 2014 01:25 AM

To be fair there's not one picture in the advert with the whole car in or without being obscured by your bike :) In fact the pics of the bike are better :)

As a minimum you need Front, rear, front drivers side angle , rear drivers side angle, front pass side angle , rear pass side angle, engine bay, boot, arches, wheels, interior pass side front, interior drivers side front, rear seats either side and a final stance shot. :)

Unless you make the effort and cover all bases sellers wont make the effort either :) All my cars have sold weeks and in some cases hours ! :)

stuart148 10 March 2014 05:45 AM

to be honest this rant wasn't about my car advert lol
it was just about for sale threads in general

but thanks for the comments about mine
and I shall sort it out ASAP
