there are some peckers out there (warning subaru damage content)

Driving to work on tuesday it was very icy and as you do in these conditions you normally de ice your car first before you set off on your journey to work

unlike the woman who did this to the gravel express who thought she had xray vision and can see through ice covered windows of her car

pulling a u turn blind in the middle of a busy road :cuckoo:

as you can see its abit of a mess :( just waiting on the insurance surveyor to come down and look at it

sad mags

Stupid cow - young or old?

I've seen more and more people driving with unclear windscreen - trying to look through a small portion which has cleared!

blackvenom 06 March 2014 12:48 PM

Doesn't look good mate, bloody drivers. Did have it repaired before?

Torquemada 06 March 2014 12:48 PM

Man, that sucks. Did you make sure you took pics of the fact that her windows were totally covered in ice, reducing her ability to actually see?

Hope it's not too much of a bugger to fix!

Lunchmoney 06 March 2014 02:23 PM

Any and all mods declared?
That damage looks like it's going to be a write off. Which makes me sad :(

Matt_STi 06 March 2014 02:28 PM

Wont be write off surely? Looks like just it needs a new wing?

Blue by You 06 March 2014 02:33 PM

Bloody women!
Was she fit? :norty:

BrownPantsRacing 06 March 2014 02:57 PM

Poo.

Mind you, looks like she needed a new wing anyhow! :)

Hope you get it sorted.

M444GY 06 March 2014 04:09 PM

yeah it had a repair on the bottom of the wing in the summer as if had some slight rust .
tbh the only damage is the wing and wishbone which i have found for under £100 , and a bit of paint , but due to the age i dunno if it will be written off , it has only done 50k miles .

i will buy it back anyhow if it is written of and repair it for little cost

jura11 06 March 2014 04:25 PM

Hi Mags

That's not good and seen the pictures on the FB,really hopefully you will get sorted, always liked yours Gravel Express:luvlove:

Thanks,Jura

alcazar 06 March 2014 04:25 PM

New wing, damage to the door as well. Might need geo check to make sure the suspension wasnt damaged (if it was then it's def write off). New bumper and light casings. Might need a new wheel/tyre.
All of that needs paint, plus sundries, fixtures etc, and labour & VAT. I look at these reports everyday, you'd be surprised how quickly the costs mount up.

ditchmyster 06 March 2014 05:48 PM

Hammer, crow bar a bit of T-cut and jobs a good un.:thumb:

yeah they do indeed :(

luckily i have checkd geo and all seems ok bar the wishbone :) bumper just needs a polish as its rubber marks

my friend paints the car when needed so its covered there in that respect and i have a spare red wing :thumb: so its just the silver needs tracing

but we will see

T5NYW 07 March 2014 11:02 AM

What a @@@@@@@ idiot.

You'd think a few hundred to fix it. But Door repair new wing spray bonnet as well. Two colours with match issues. 4W alignment. I bet that insurance job will be nearer to £2k than £1K. Possibly even a write off. I know this sounds silly but seen a few written off if repair is over 50% of its value.

Hope it all works out.

Tony

We write them off when the repair reaches 66% of the Pre Accident Value (PAV). Not saying all insurers do that, but the one I work for does.

If the car is 10 years or older then most insurers do a Fast Track Total Loss and wont even bother with an estimate. They'll just value it and send a cheque, less the value of the salvage if you keep it.

It will get under valued, so start getting your examples of how much these are worth now.

Ah perhaps this was the reason and it worked out 50% ;)

Mags

Get the 4W alignment done as sometimes a bump on wheel can bend / put out the bottom arm. May Affect more camber/caster than toe in/out

M444GY 07 March 2014 03:56 PM

cheers guys

well i cant really estimate how much its worth tbh its a hard one

sti owned car untill 2004 in japan
50k miles
full sti pink suspension pack front and rear
as new sti interior
gravel express

its pretty rare , im sure they will just look at a wagon of the same age and compare :(

Gutted mate :( some people simply should not be allowed to drive!
I hope it gets sorted.

They told me my STI4 wagon was worth 1200quid first quote I got. Don't let them do it to you, reject their estimate. I sent in lots of proof it was worth considerably more, I got 4.5k back from them in the end and still bought it back for 700. ;) :thumb:

Steve Whitehorn 07 March 2014 04:52 PM

Hi
Just seen this
Sorry to hear of your misfortune Mags :(

M444GY 07 March 2014 07:00 PM

cheers guys .

its worth a lot more than they are probably gonna say with all the trick bits and milage so ill have to fight them for more id emagine.

but we will have to see Monday , annoying thing as have the parts to get it goin and it would only take half a day to get it sorted !!

Fonzey 07 March 2014 07:04 PM

Well annoying, I had a bit of a scare myself a week or two ago - got outside and miraculously my windscreen was perfectly clear, and all other cars parked around were frosted over. I just put it down to my car being closest to the house.

Got out of the estate, round the corner and BAM the screen instantly frosted up on me :lol1: Some kind of miracle of science, I can't explain it - but I was in the middle of a bunch of moving cars and I could not see anything. Stuck hazards on and just stopped, luckily everyone avoiding me until it cleared - I must have looked like a right bell-end, but happy ending eventually.

Frosted screens whilst driving should be worth points and a fine, if it isn't already.

scoobyboy1 07 March 2014 09:41 PM

If its the other womens fault, im guessing her insurance will be footing the bill??

The guy who hit my car, his insurance have been great, I told them that I wanted to pick my own sprayer/body shop to fix the damage and they agreed, didnt even argue, said no problem! And I also got a courtesy car which was a brand new BMW 325D M sport(in white:D).

And a funny story, I had the insurance company(Tesco insurance) phone me up, moaning that the courtesy car was costing £200+vat a day and that my subaru was going to take nearly 2 weeks, and basically questioned if I actually need a courtesy car as it was costing a lot of money, I told the women on the other end of the phone, that the accident was not my fault and no way am I giving the courtesy car back, and that I needed a car to get to work and back!!

Anyway the lady on the other end of the phone asked if I would be interested in giving the courtesy car back and take a cash lump sum as a inconvenience of not having a courtesy car, I was then offered £1000:luxhello:so agreed for them to pick the car up the next day!!!:D

PADDYHOEY 07 March 2014 10:29 PM

Employ an independent engineer yourself, it will help your battle.
