Sporty diesel 5-10k

What sporty diesels are out there between 5 & 10k? Must be 5 dr as for the missus. Been thinking about a bmw 123d

scoobyboy1 05 March 2014 07:36 PM

Yeah Id choose the BMW with the automatic gearbox, Great cars to drive and can get pretty good mpg!!

ronjeramy 05 March 2014 07:38 PM

We've got a volvo v5 d5 180bhp 270 torques and does 45mpg. Once moving it's pretty quick, 5 cylinder engine so it has a little character about it. Looks quite smart too. :)

Had a new one of these recently(325D M-sport) great car, does everything you need, drives smooth, loads of room, great mpg, good interior feel, has that bit of power when you need it. Even charge the i-pad(my son loves this:D)

If you need a good 2nd car, I cant think of anything better then a diesel BMW!!:luvlove:

LeeRoyV 05 March 2014 07:58 PM

Cheers for the suggestions guys... Like the idea of a 325d m sport but a little over budget for a decent one :(....

barnshaw 05 March 2014 07:58 PM

535d
high mileage 335d
audi 3.0tdi
I even had a lovely old mondeo st tdci which was superb to drive, nippy too

BMW every time. Very tuneable also. The 123D will put out 260bhp and 340 lbs ft with a remap. Sporty enough for you?

EssexJamie 05 March 2014 09:22 PM

We have a Seat leon Cupra FR with factory fitted Cupra R kit on, looks good and goes really well for a diesel has a cheeky Revo dealer option on it as well :)
205BHP and 315LB-FT

MK 5 Golf GT Tdi 140?

As it happens I have one for sale (company car arrived this week), and its right in the middle of your budget at £7.5k.

Pulls like a train, easily does over 50mpg.

type-rob 06 March 2014 10:19 PM

I like the Volvo.

Yep.

hedgecutter 07 March 2014 05:48 PM

Pacenote; remind us what happened to the main bearing in that Legacy?

dj219957 07 March 2014 07:05 PM

10k will get you a very nice low mileage 320d m sport. 177-184 bhp and mappable upto 220bhp for less than £500.

Cpt Jack Sparrow 07 March 2014 07:10 PM

I HAD a Volvo S40 R-design 2.0 ltr... Pokey little number, and in white everyone thinks you're a police car, and you get let out more at junctions,

Nope...being a Beemer it probably weighs nigh on two tonnes.....:D

If you want sporty I wouldn't bother with the Volvo, I had the first V50 sport in the Uk with almost every option, while it was a nice place to be and a lovely car, it was very easy to find it's limits, quite sloppy on the edge and bit vague too, it's basically a Ford focus in a fancy dress.

But don't let me put you off because they are very nice mine was gun metal grey with fancy wheels, leather, winter pack, sport pack and other stuff I can't remember, it was 2005 only thing I didn't have was sat nav as our cars all ran smart nav, definitely have the look back factor and used to p!ss off a lot of managers too, engineer with a better car,:D very classy but really not what I would call sporty.

It was the crank actually and it went pop... but up to that point it was a sporty diesel which is what this thread is about hence the :norty:
