'07 STi Throttle/ECU Issue
Hi All,
Since selling my Scooby I've not been on here much, but Im helping out a mate with a problem on his Hawkeye STi. Scenario is, he let the battery go completely flat and didn't replace it for about 4-6 weeks as it wasn't a daily driver. Now the battery has been replaced there is a problem with the car, when you start the engine the revs instantly go up to 2,500RPM and stay there. If you touch the throttle it doesn't react much and then the engine just hunts up/down by about 1,000RPM. If its left to run the Revs change every now and then, fluctuating up to around 3,500RPM. We have connected a Fault code reader and there was an error: P1160 Return Spring Failure This doesn't clear (or it happens immediately again once its cleared) so presume that its got to have something to do with the problem. We have reset the ECU (disconnected the battery, left it, held the brake in and then connected the battery again) the car turned over for longer than normal which is what i expected but the Revs were exactly the same again. Does anyone have any ideas? Cheers, Lee |
Have you tried unplugging the throttle body harness , it may have been disturbed , twisted , fouled . Give it a try - re - connect
Failing that it's either a faulty connection or internal to TB |
