rear crank seal
 

I have a slight oil leak coming from my rear crank. Strange thing is it appears to be coming from the middle of the crank, as opposed to the black seal that surrounds the crank. Anyone seen this before?

The pic only comes up tiny so I can't see but it's a solid lump of metal so the only place it can leak is the seal. (Obviously the inspection covers also leak). Maybe it leaked from the seal but collected in that location? Either way after just fitted a new seal I can say that I hated this job...

Most likely to be :
*The black plastic breather/seperator plate which crack around the lower left screw hole.
*Rear Main oil seal leaking (non genuine seal in your picture).
*Turbo oil return hose leaking, dripping down and getting behind the flywheel gathering on the back of the crank.
* Oil passing through the flywheel bolt holes on the crank if thread sealant hasnt been used on the bolts.

Really? I was sure that these holes bottomed out and did not go all the way through? It would be a bad design to have them connected to the oil ways.
