Prodrive Sports Cat £175

I've just been offered a Prodrive Sports Cat for £175 + fitting.

It's on a STI 07 (which is currently standard)

Does this sound reasonable? I've tried goggling it but I can't find anything!

Cheers

Dale

Yes. fitting a downpipe is a pain in the hole

rough cost for 2nd hand ppp sport cat is usually around the £125 mark

ScottyPPP 28 February 2014 02:15 PM

£175? You can find them ALOT cheaper than that!

Gambit 28 February 2014 02:26 PM

aye but it includes fitting

smiffywhu 28 February 2014 02:30 PM

Sorry maybe I miss wrote that, I meant fitting to be added! I wont be bothering with the part as it now seems overpriced, thanks guys

smiffywhu 28 February 2014 02:33 PM

Is it best for me to start a new thread asking if a "sports cat IS for sale" or is that against the forum rules?

yeah it is then, £125 is general average price on them. you can always get cheaper or dearer

for £175 it would need to be the last of PPP sport cats that come with the metal headshield and bellmouth separator.

smiffywhu 28 February 2014 02:45 PM

What benefits are the sports cats that come with the metal headshield and bellmouth separator?I don't fancy buying a more expensive product if its barely beneficial? As above the car is currently standard and I want my "play" money to stretch as far as possible

ScottyPPP 28 February 2014 03:04 PM

I paid £80 for a PPP Sports cat down pipe with the devorced wastegate setup and the 3rd decat pipe included (not that I needed that bit as I've already got it on my WRX PPP).

smiffywhu 28 February 2014 04:04 PM

Was that private sale?

I'm quickly learning the advantages to buying parts off guys on here.

They are good guys who offered me the part but obviously they have their fees to cover...

Am I allowed to start a thread asking if anyone has a sports cat for sale?

ScottyPPP 28 February 2014 04:21 PM

I bought mine from here :)

smiffywhu 28 February 2014 04:29 PM

Nice1 I think I need to take a leaf out of your book,
Thanks for all your answers guys

Think it will cost you £2 a month or £12 for the year to post in the wanted section

G10 28 February 2014 05:52 PM

Try Scott@Scoobyspares, he'll sort you one and give you some advice about what to spend your 'play' money on.

smiffywhu 28 February 2014 06:02 PM

cheers G10, PM sent to him, although I've just read in the 'Wanted' Section and he offered a guy asking for a prodrive sports cat for £175 also, and £150 for a different unknown brand.Seems private and off here is deffo the way to go....the waiting wont be much fun though.

Ask them if they'll do it for £200 fitted. I once payed someone £50 to fit mine. Although I don't think the mechanic I use now would charge me £50 I think he'd do it cheaper for about £25 not including gaskets if needed.they can do it in half hr.

Got mine for £75 off eBay - that was about 6 years ago though. Mine had the scabby fabric heat shield on it that lasted a while but ended up wrapping it in the end. Try and get one with the metal heat shield if you can.

Currently looking for one myself and it was me that Scotty offered the cats too. Didn;t really want to spend that amount on one at the moment as I too have seen them go for £50.00 upwards. Only reason I am changing mine is that my oe one rattles and sounds like crusty pants, thought I may as well see if I can get a PPP one instead of fitting a standard one. Local exhaust/tyre place will be fitting mine as I have no where to work on the car myself.

I take it you'll be getting it re-mapped afterwards?

Turbo will spool earlier quicker with an uprated downpipe and probably will benefit from a remap after

Yes will be visiting EngineTuner at some point very soon :thumb:

i also tried to get one via Scott from Scoobyspares but he didnt got back to me :(
I were ready to pay 175GBP cause these parts are very rare here, and its hardly punished to go fully decat in germany. So this is a good way to get a better exhaust flow and do not go into prison ;)

Hmmm - you do get some poor quality cats fail the MOT after as little as a couple of years. I've hear prodrive and Miltek do the best ones. There are lots of threads on here about sports cats failing MOTs. Maybe start a new thread to see if anyone has had any experience with the brands you looking at, if you can't find a previous thread on your options.

FAULT ! ^^... the number was from another guy who gave me the number of scott ;) Sadly he dont have whatsapp, What a Pity :P Maybe he get back to me later, i hope so.
