Novice looking for brake advice please!

I've got a knocking sound coming from the front calipers.... I had a mechanic look and to strip them down and clean them up as they were squealing lots. He noticed the pad was 50%worn but the pads were slightly loose as the hole the pin goes through seams a lot bigger than the actual pin it's self!! I've used the search function but does the shim kit help this issue.... Any advice so I get the right parts would be a massive help... Thanks Ben

i get the same..if i go in reverse and brake..I get a click/knock. Pads have a little play in the seating..nothing to panic about

Most after market pads will knock when reversing but you should check that the spring clip is round the right way (T at the top). I recently fitted new calipers, discs/pads and had all sorts of clonking coming from up front until I checked the spring clip (after some good advice on here) :rolleyes

Once it was the right way up, I only ever get a clink when reverse parking.

Just back.. The spring clips were fitted correctly (curved bit up) but there is loads of wear in the bottom holes were the split pin goes through on the pads them selfs...this is prob why the pads are moving!! Ordered a new set of pads and getting them fitted on wed! Will update then... Cheers for advice and help people!!
