Alcon Caliper Refurb, ASP, Godspeed,Scoobyworx Help!!
 

Had these for a wee while, thought id be able ( by sheer stupidity, not Skill) to split the caliper's down and refurbish as required, However need's more done to them than im able to.

So maybe Alyn @ As performance or Ian @ Godspeed Or Darryll @ Scoobyworx would be able refurbish them for me.

Work Required:

Caliper half fluid line ( On both calipers ) need's 1 sheared bolt removing + re tapping, 1 bolt need's removed as it's just spinning in the hole :freak3:

Metal has eroded were the caliper half bolt's go and left a hole were the thread would go.

New nipples fitting ( I go have some here)

New caliper half line's made up and fitted.

Piston's removed and cleaned up + refitted. New seal kit if required.

Will update with Photo's as soon as possible

If anyone can pm a price etc that be great :thumb:

They sound like they are in a bad way , best sort some pictures for us to look at

were/are the pistons seized in??

No they aint seized in, Moved freely when i got them.

Here you can see were the metal has eroded away by the thread's, Similiar on both caliper's. From the top center of the photo straight down, you can just about see the thread line's just above the hole for the pad retaining pin

Anyone able to give me a rough quote on repair ( Wont need painted). Boxed them up with all spare bit's i got with them, so ready to be sent off.

Just need a rough idea how much it's going to set me back.

Anyone??

TBH i'm not sure they can be done cost effectively , would be quite a bit of work building up with weld and machining where they have corroded away , i'd need to see them to work out of we can do them safely and a price , probably the worst I have seen.

Have heard thing's like chemical metal and re threading them. Just doesnt fill me with 100% confidence, Especially when it come to brakes

Ill quite happily send them down to you for a look over and get a quote. Ill probably let you sort them ( If Viable or possible ) , And save up to pay.

I would never use chemical metal on calipers , and especially where yours have corroded as its a critical area that needs strength , they will end up splitting if its gets worse , we would only weld in new aluminium and machine it back , then redrill the hole , which is quite a bit of work to do , and to get it right.

The drilling out bleed nipples or brake pipe ends is straight forward enough , but again I have seen someone else doing it with an electric hand drill ! only has to be slightly off line which it will be if your doing it by eye and the bleed nipple won't sit properly and will leak , we machine these on our CNC milling machine holding them with jigs we have made , its the proper way of doing it.

If you send them to us we have have a proper look at them and let you know if we can do them

Well considering there quite "Rareish" calipers and are probably worth it in the long run. Best to get the work done.

Weird how they have corroded so badly , must of been sitting for a long time.

Any idea "roughly" it would cost?? Dont want to be spending over £400 on repair's when i can get Brembo's for that price. But i'll be quite happy to send them down for you to have a look.
