Dream Weaver 29 April 2001 03:59 PM

Had a great day today at NM5, but apart from the usual suspects whose faces I know (BarryK, Supercar Killer, Bob T, Currie32, Craft, MTR, Pumpers, CharlieH, Steve_F et al) I didnt get a chance to meet anyone else from Scoobynet whose name I may have seen, or whose threads I have joined in on.

So who else was there? Did I speak to anyone whose name I didnt catch?

Where were boomer, Clarey, Rich Wild, Type R etc? I had my name on the back of the MR2 so you couldnt miss me really. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Cheers Mellow. I have only had the car for a week so was a bit nervous when I saw the rain this morning (never had RWD before).

The first few hairpins were scary with the back sliding out, but once I got used to it it was great fun. I have to say as well for an NA car it really is very quick. I struggled on the bends with the Scooby's (i.e. had to take it easy going in) but made enough speed up in the straights.

I am very happy with it after todays outing - only used about £17 petrol as well for 135 miles http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

I will come and say hello at the next meet - I waved you on the M62 at some point and I think you were talking to MTR in the porch at the pub? Telling your son to mind his head near the door http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

BOB.T 29 April 2001 11:11 PM

SK, I washed the car off when I got home and couldn't resist going out again, so I went over Blubberhouses, the car was well up for it till a bolt fell out of the front pipe! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

I think it's about used to the treatment it gets though!

Bob

Dream Weaver 29 April 2001 11:45 PM

Bob - your car looked great today. I did the same and went out again this afternoon http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

The MR has loosened up even more after today - feels very quick, though I did run it on SUL today http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

I find a good thrash all ways does the car good http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

PS do you fancy a mini meet with Charlie from Harrogate?

wrx 30 April 2001 01:22 AM

I was there but i've only been on net for a few days so I don't know names yet. I was in DBM00 went to get petrol but couldn't get back in at services, so I tagged onto the first group behind a DBM00 STI6 because I didn't have any pace notes. It was a great day i'll try and bring a few others from Brum next time(scoop, SiBurt,)

TonyBurns 30 April 2001 08:19 AM

So that was your P1 Mellow, parked next to the other P1 http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif where did u get that sticker from???!! i was a few cars down from you, sonic blue MY00 turbo with prodrive alloys, that evo5 was v nice too that i saw near you. Missed out the pub at the end cos i lost the pack due to tight corner, no visability and white van http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif didnt see any RB5's there or Cats, but one terzo3 there (behind him in the pack) Saw the mr2 (black one)
Good day though and i enjoyed myself http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Tony

chiark 30 April 2001 08:39 AM

...and if the U turn was the U-turn from hell in the middle of no-where, I was leading the pack albeit quite slowly as I fear Plod occasionally has moments of insight and gets a route plan.

Great laugh, wonderful route, sorry I didn't meet more people. Wife was wanting to get home and decorate - next time I think she's stopping at home...

SUPERCAR-KILLER 30 April 2001 08:59 AM

DW,
Did you mention the 22b had a crash, cos i didnt see it at the pub.
Do we know who it was and details of the crash was everyone OK?

I presume that was my MR2 Tony. It's green, but often looks black, or purple, or blue http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Bob - yeah I would be up for a mini meet at some point. Are you coming on Dales Run 2?

DW,

i was there, and saw your mota, but only parked and not you in person - i guess that's the problem when there are 70-odd cars and 100-odd folks. The bar at the Nont got rather busy n'all!

wrx,

did you meet us at Keele (parked far left)? We never did properly get introduced! I was the lead car up the M6 to Birch.

wrx 01 May 2001 01:43 AM

Yes that was me, I was behind you up from Keele. First name to face. c u at next midlands meet.

Fame at last, or so I thought http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif
Trouble with these Japs they all look the same, sonic blue MY00 turbo?
Another Terzo was supposed to be there.

Untill Chiarks U turn I was trailing a DBM 01 and the Marcos, then became Silver WRX.

PS our group chose the '62 & Huddersfield instead of the pub http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

DaveD 01 May 2001 12:50 PM

Yup,

I was there, starting from Keele, along with three others in my car (the rear passengers *really* enjoyed the bumpy bits! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif )

My car should have been easy to spot - K plate, unmarked silver WRX, with puny low rear wing http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

So just who was in that yellow Evo V? (You cut in front of us for the final leg - provided some great entertainment! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif )

wrx,

how do you fancy joining us on the Wales Camping Trip 2 (in a week and a half) - see

wrx 01 May 2001 11:16 PM

Boomer

I don't think I'll be able to get that weekend off. Scoops been telling me how good it was last time. If I manage to get cover I'll be there.
When you say checking the route, Does that mean there will be a drive? Which day will it be?

Cheers wrx

boomer 02 May 2001 06:32 PM

wrx,

there are two drives - one of the Saturday _to_ the camp (from a common start location), and one on the Sunday back _from_ the camp (to a(nother) pub for lunch. Just under 100 miles each day (plus your mileage to and from Wales - i did a total of 400 miles yesterday).

mb

Matt_Davies 02 May 2001 07:19 PM

Hey DaveD How are ya !!

We were in front of you in the red "s" reg. Till the evo came past that is.

And who was the guy in the red 5dr leading? not quite sure how he managed to keep that pace and read his map!

Type R 02 May 2001 07:24 PM

Sorry i didnt make it i was stranded in the Lake District with another punture Saturday night. Two in two days !!! (One at Cadwell on Friday) Unlucky or wot and with no tyre companies open Sat or Sun i only had the space saver so stayed up there until Monday.

Im sure you all had a good laugh.

Matt

Matt_Davies 03 May 2001 12:49 AM

Alright DaveD.

Yeah nice one i'll look forward to it.

Sure we will be attending more meets. I'm not the driver im the passenger but gray (the owner) is a bit of a techno retard and does'nt have a pc...yet so i'm often browsing on here coz he's only had the car six months and theres loads of dead useful stuff. I've just printed a SIDC membership application form for him so we can attend a couple of track days.

See ya later, Matt.

DaveD 03 May 2001 12:15 PM

Hiya Matt_Davies!

Glad you enjoyed your first meet.

I'm sure you'll be attending many more meets in the future!

I should be posting some pictures over the weekend, once I've got my old-fashoned 35mm films developed. I'm sure your car will be quite prominent in the in-car shots!
