New UK Subaru Sti - Due April/May

A very big hello guys. :luxhello:

I've managed to bag one of these - should get it first week of May.

Used to own a Sti Type-UK back in 2005. Had a few different cars since then, currently driving a Mountuned Focus RS mk2 which is going in for the Subaru.

Anyone else on here getting one? Anyone got some interesting info (there is very little out there, even the dealers don't know much?)

Will the tax be close to £500? Will they need to drink Super-Unleaded?

Littleted 29 January 2014 12:56 PM

as far as im aware

Super Unleaded Only same as old saloon, so carry additive so you don't get caught short
Tax is 465 a year.

You've bought a car even the dealers don't know much about?

And worse...it's made by FHI and imported by the usual lot?

Best of luck.:)

haha this +1. i wish i made that much money that i could just throw it at a car i know nothing about. all in all though it cant be that bad and i hope you love it

Give him a break ya bullies.

In its defence Hulk Engine issues aside, I had 1 ( the old saloon ) for 3 years and it was bulletproof, I sold it due to end of warrenty and I didn't want the engine to give way when I wasn't covered.

If you plan to keep it after 3 years then just bare that in Mind, its the same Block that we all rant about.

hence why ive just bought the A45, I would have had the scoob IF they had dropped the 2.0L in but they don't listen to us customers just do what they want. I think that would be safe to say more of us would have gone back to the brand if they had given a hoot about us.

It will be lovely, and youll be getting it about the same time I get my A45 end of May June...

Enjoy it

your actually closeish to me, im Leeds I could come and look when you get it :)
Where did you buy from KT Greens ?

Think he should be safe for 5 years as I'm sure subaru's come with 5 years warranty now.
I have the current saloon wrx sti running 320bhp and would love to know how you get on with your new car.

Thehulkster699 29 January 2014 04:05 PM

Cheers guys. Yes, I know I've taken a risk on a car yet to be even driven or reviewed, but I've liked ALL Subaru STi's over the last few years, so I'm not panicking. And no, I haven't got enough money to throw away on it!
My RS is a 2009, and it runs like a dream. But it's out of warranty now, and that's a feeling I don't like. Plus, and this is the big reason why I'm jumping now, the values on the RS are so strong. I have been given a guaranteed trade-in for my Ford in April/May, so I'm happy.
When I read the new Subaru had a 5 year warranty it made my mind up.

I can't wait. I considered what colour, then just ended up buying the WR Blue. Just wondering if mine will come with gold alloys. They can't tell me that either! Lol.

Littleted 29 January 2014 04:08 PM

if its the first 1000 then yes this is the option.

Wonder who got my old saloon, Anybody got ML60RAU ????

Don't think the WRX STI comes with 5 year warranty though

Thehulkster699 29 January 2014 04:35 PM

Oh great. Lol.

Nevermind. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it then in 3 years time.

urban 29 January 2014 04:36 PM

For built-in peace of mind, every vehicle (excluding WRX STi) marketed by Subaru (UK) Ltd is covered by a 5 Year/100,000 mile (whichever is sooner) Limited Warranty (excluding clutch driven plate). Bodywork is covered by a 12 Year Anti-Corrosion Warranty. Paintwork is covered by a 3 Year Warranty.

Are the newer sti engines sorted now? Or am I going to have to get rid at the end of the warranty period? Can't believe I'm talking about this before I've even turned a key in a brand new car yet to sit on my drive.

wellsyboy 29 January 2014 06:14 PM

hi, price will new sti be,cheers.

Thehulkster699 29 January 2014 06:33 PM

Price? £28999 for white, plus £500 for blue, black or silver/grey.

P1Fanatic 29 January 2014 06:42 PM

hulkster - are you Si on RSOC? How much did you get p/ex on the RS if you don't mind me asking? I have a FW MK2 btw - same user over on RSOC :)

Thehulkster699 29 January 2014 06:45 PM

Yes buddy. I'm Si!

Fonzey 29 January 2014 07:00 PM

You don't drive in and out of Selby a lot do you?

I thought it might be! Welcome aboard SN. I was tempted on an MY11 STi Hatch before getting the RS. The engine issues / depreciation / RFL put me off though.

Littleted 29 January 2014 07:08 PM

I'd say unless your have David or Alan fettle the block I'd be looking to move it after 3 years.
FYI I would be having this IF you have to have a scooby

Thehulkster699 29 January 2014 07:15 PM

Fonzey - not me in and out of Selby!

Any get-togethers in and around North Yorkshire? Any Whitby or Buttertubs runs?

Thehulkster699 31 January 2014 07:42 PM

Well, managed to get some news from my Subaru dealer today, who had gotten a visit from some head-office guy from Subaru today.

The first 1000 sti's have already sold worldwide. These had gold alloys thrown on as a bonus, as well as a quick-shift gear change. Unfortunately, I haven't managed to get one of these despite ordering relatively early. Mine will have shadow-chrome alloys on. I'm not too bothered, but my little lad wanted gold alloys! However, it would seem at this stage all the UK cars will have a quick-shift as standard.

No more info until March - he said the Subaru guy was being very cagey!

L.J.F 01 February 2014 10:06 AM

Gold wheels are a 90's look so I personally think you are getting the better colour :)

mickp 01 February 2014 04:52 PM

The wheels would be low on my priority list. What did the Subaru insider say about the engine. Are there any modifications to prevent all the issues of the past 5 years ?

Thehulkster699 01 February 2014 05:27 PM

No ground-breaking new info on the engine, so would assume it's the same old lump. I'm not really panicking on that though, as I won't be modifying anything so (touch wood) any problems for 3 years will be covered by warranty.

Although a 5 year warranty would have been nicer.

I'm going to go stir crazy waiting for this car to arrive.

urban 01 February 2014 11:23 PM

Same old lump - then avoid it like the plague my friend!

Thehulkster699 02 February 2014 08:44 AM

Appreciate your concern, but nothing is stopping me having this car on my drive come May.

I'll take my chances and hopefully have a decent few years with it. I'm not interested in buying an older Subaru model that may well be better built. Buying an older car can come with as many problems as buying a new one that MIGHT have some ongoing issues. So what choice do buyers have? If I listened to some owners on here I should keep my hard earned in my pocket, or buy another brand? This IS a subaru club isn't it?

It's a bit dis-heartening to find so many negative comments on the brand new flagship model upon joining a Subaru forum.

Haters will hate, but I intend on enjoying my Sti. And IF I have some problems with it, then I'll deal with it (or rather the warranty will) and I'll move on. Life's too short, eh?

rob84 02 February 2014 12:19 PM

selling these cars like hot cakes at the moment with only a handful left to buy from Subaru.
Just the anticipation of them arriving very shortly

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a hater of the new models.
I had a 330S for 3.5 years and it was fine during that time - in fact out of all the Impreza models I've owned, the 330S was by far the better car.
Its just a shame its got a black mark with the engine issues.
Having said that, I doubt I'll be back in a Subaru ever again - having heard from friends that have had problems and Subaru claimed they had driven the cars to destruction.
This by the way is total nonsense, you could have counted on 1 hand the number of times he might ever have hit the limiter (totally by accident I might add, not purposely revving the nuts of it)
Plus, you just have to read some of the other horror stories on here with Subaru warranty

Thehulkster699 02 February 2014 05:29 PM

Would Subaru be stupid enough to be launching a brand new model with a dodgy engine? Especially knowing that the world is watching due to having problems with an earlier model? Maybe I'm looking at it through rose-tinted soon-to-be-new owner glasses, but I'm going to hope not.
