Front seat brackets rusty on 05 plate wrx

Hey guys
Just got myself another Impreza wrx! A black wagon with full leather interior, sunroof and PPP. Nice car but just noticed the front seat brackets are quite rusty? Never noticed that on my previous wrx of the same year. Has anyone encountered this before? Also there was an advisory on mot saying O/S front subframe rusty but not weak?? Again last one never had any such probs! Any help gratefully appreciated! :wonder:

I've had rust on my 07 plate Spec D front seat runners. Passenger side is ok, but the two driver seat ones were pretty bad. Particularly nearest the fuel cap release side.

I undid the two bolts, this allows you to pivot the seat back enough to get some paper between the runners and the carpet.

I sanded them down applied two coats of Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80, then painted them with gloss black hammerite type paint.

It's coming back a bit already (3 months now I guess) so I'll have to live with it and will probably replace both.

I didn't sand the undersides of where the bolts go, so hence it wasn't a fantastic job. Maybe I'll get the driver seat out and some point and I'll really grind / rub them down.

I think it's just wet shoes / boots that causes it.

Also have this on mine. Going to tackle it when it is a bit warmer. :thumb:
Glad it isn't just mine. Had fears of my motor being submerged at some point.

Its just shonky japanese tat. Obviously not very good quality if the inside if a 9 year old car is rusting!
And if you think inside is bad, for **** sake dont stick your head under the thing!

You are just jinxed fella! :D

All the jobs on my car have been trouble free. In fact, every job on all 4 of my imprezas has been straight forward. :thumb:

I must admit though that rust on the seat brackets is a bit odd. But it could have been that the company that produced/painted them before supplying to Subaru, just didn't do it right.
