decent sti spolier replicas
are there any replic sti spoilers that are good quality?
i dont want to buy a POS fibreglass one. i want something similar to OEM quality or is it easyer to wait for a real one to pop up? |
Best is genuine, but on my old wrx I had one from scoobyworld, I bought it pre painted and quality was good, but the cost now is similar to a used one.
|
Wait and get a real one.

I bought a Scoobyworld one just before Xmas. Haven't had it painted and fitted yet but am happy with the quality. I had been looking for a genuine one but the only one I found painted the right colour was quite badly scratched and they still wanted £400 for it. The Scoobyworld one will end up costing me that for the part, painting, and fitting.

There's one on eBay that's made off abs and dose look quite decent.
Its 150 quid ish. I want a real one but 400 is a lot off money. I might take a punt at the abs one |
the top wing may be a bit wavey, so it's a punt in the dark

I have the exact one off eBay you're talking about. Well if it's from a seller in Leeds ?
There are no recesses in the wing to fit the stiffies. Tbh it doesn't need them. It's never going to break unless you sit on it & the flex at motorway speeds is minimal, you'll be more concerned how you can't see who's 200yds behind you ;) |
Had a replica. It cracked and filled with water. Never again.
|
Should've bought a better replica... ;)
|
have you had the car up to silly speeds with the rep without issue?
tbh i could still fit stiffies to a rep it just wouldnt be as straightforward as id have to make sure i lined them up perfectly without any recesses to use as a guide. im fairly tall so id have thought the STi spoiler/rep would basically be a line across the middle of the rear windscreen when looking in the mirror. would have more low end visibility than the WRX spoiler id have thought also.. |

My point is here. |
I had a replica on my 03 wrx and it was fine, paid 110 for it brand new off ebay, only way you could tell was the holes under the sides which i filled and smoothed and the brake light was longer than standard. There was no flexing at high speed and no wavey panels, i used high build primer and flatted it properly and painted, it looked good

How is a replica fitted badly to a classic relevant to this?
Anyway... if you buy a quality replica and have it competently finished it will look great, if you buy a cheap replica and fit it badly, it's going to look crap. Saying you need a genuine one because anything else will look bad is naive. |
