Rear caliper refurb kit hell...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUBARU-IMP...item4d0d48ae35

This is just about all I can find for a 2003 WRX, I thought the 2003 Imp had 2 pots at the rear and why doesn't the kit come with a new piston or 2?

tubbytommy 06 January 2014 04:28 PM

The clue is in the title where it says "1 piston type" some older imprezas had the 1 piston sliding calipers

What is making me confused is some advertise their kits as fitting to models up to 2002. The above is 2000-2004

Some say they fit a Sumitone caliper and others say it fits an Akewonde.

Dunno mine came with brembos :)

So the 2002 WRX has two types of Calipers?
Any reason why you don't get new Pistons for the 2003 Wrx?

Godspeed Brakes 06 January 2014 05:32 PM

No the 2001 to 2007 WRX all have the same calipers , and there is only 1 type.
We can supply you 4 x stainless steel pistons and seals for £89.99 , if you buy a seal kit , that is all you get , seals

Cheers Ian

RS_Matt 06 January 2014 05:38 PM

So the kit in the opening post is BS?

It is advertised as compatible with 200-2004 WRX Calipers and only has the bits for 1 piston

It's so confusing owning a Scoob. So many paradoxes.

Godspeed Brakes 06 January 2014 05:43 PM

its just whoever is selling them in your link doesn't know !

The WRX's that had 1 pot rear calipers are for the US market , although we have seen a couple of import ones with them , but 99.999% of them all have the 2 pot rears

cheers fella!

What I really need is just one piston and a seal kit for it.

Godspeed Brakes 06 January 2014 07:12 PM

Seals for one side or both , can do pistons for £15 each

AS Performance 06 January 2014 07:34 PM

JDM cars also had sliding calipers

How would I purchase 1 rear piston and the seals to match off your site??

Cheers Ian

I'll let you know, just weighing up my options as the other 3 mo's are ue to seize as well, can you get a PRO WRX rear caliper?

Godspeed Brakes 06 January 2014 08:59 PM

No they don't make them , only fronts.
The rears don't seem to have the problems with rusting pistons as the front do , so may just need stripping and cleaning with new seals only

ScoobyNoob79 06 January 2014 09:03 PM

Sorry to hijack the the thread, but I'm looking to do my brakes pretty soon, could you PM the best prices for the below please Ian.

2004 Blob WRX Wagon:

Front big brake kit + rear grooved discs to match + kevlar pads.

Cheers buddy.
