leaky AST's

Hi all, happy new year hope its a goodun. As the title i have a 04jdm sti with ast's on that need to come off for a rebuild. But as my use for the car has changed since i bought it (baby arrived) i was toying with the idea of putting it back to factory shocks/srings to give the little one a better ride. But having never driven it standard i am in the dark with how it would feel. Also it doesn't get used as hard as it did so could live with the handling being slightly compromised. Any feedback greatly appreciated:)

imo it would be more soft so would give your little one a better ride.

hard to say, depends on how your ASTs were valved and what spring rates you are running. you could have them rebuilt and revalved to suit your needs. run softer, longer spring rates and revalve to have less low speed rebound. The damper's flexibility should allow you to go soft but controlled enough for the kid and still give you adequate performance when alone. i find standars STi dampers fairly nuggety in feel, especially at low speeds in the back seat.

If your AST's need refurbing anyway, why not speak to Curtis (assume it's still him) at AST suspension UK about changing a few things to suit your requirements.............
