Larger rolling radius tyres on the back?
Have done a search but I can't find an exact answer anywhere so thought I'd ask. Currently have 215/40/17 tyres fitted to my 97 Turbo 2000, and the two rear ones are due for replacement. The wheels are TD Pro Race 3s and I've always thought the 215 width tyre looked a bit too low profile almost and a bit narrow for the rim, so wanted to go up to 225/45/17 a common size as fitted to most newage scoobies I believe.
Problem is I'm skint (post xmas, who isn't?) so can't afford to replace the two front tyres as they've still got a good 5mm left in them. Would there be any issue with fitting 225/45s to the rear and leaving the fronts in place for a bit longer? The rears will have a slightly larger radius than the front, I'm not familiar with the impreza's centre diff configuration will it be able to adjust to different front and rear prop rotations easily? I would've thought so as I assumed it was an open diff but thought I'd ask the SN collective first!
