HEADGASKET FAILURE?????

Hi guy how can I tell if the head gaskests gone or going on a hawkeye wrx? All the heaters work fine and the oils all ok and all runs ok never overheats the only problem it has is when you come to a stop theres a smell of oil and abit of smoke from under the car

i am new to the 2.5 engine so any advice on them is gratefully recieved

Could just be a cam cover gasket gone leaking onto exhaust

Type_R_1984 28 December 2013 06:28 PM

That could be oil from rocker cover gasket ( or somewhere else ) dripping on manifold?

I had the rocker cover bolts stretch a bit and it was dripping on the exhaust , I put thin washers on a retightened as the gaskets were brand new , problem solved , hopfully yours is a minor thing
