The Rallytech Evo 6 refresh project

OK....so I know it isn't a Subaru but I'm sure some of you will still appreciate this. We do have a build thread on our GC track car also which we'll be posting up soon.

So we got this to expand the product range. It's very difficult to find a good an original Evo here, most are imported in two halves and then joined together and registered using the documents from a standard Lancer.

Didn't fancy that too much so we looked at at least 10 different cars before deciding on this one. The original car is a CM5A, which would have been a 4WD 1.8 turbo - main thing is that it was imported in ONE PIECE!

I'm afraid the progress on this car will be quite slow, this is our daily driven collection vehicle and it's actually used mainly for collecting and dropping of stock!

When we bought it the previous owner had started a good project but given up half way through and decided to sell it. It already had:

Holset HX40 billet turbo
HKS external gate
Precision 1000cc injectors
Walbro 400 pump
Defi gauges
Greddy Profec B
Headers
HKS turbo back exhaust
Tein coilovers
Ksport adjustable rear links

First thing we did was change the wheels and tires. Old wheels looked pretty similar but one had a crack in one of the spokes....tires were past it also.
Paint looks great in this pic:

BUT - up close the paint is utter $hite! It'll be going for a respray in the January. Second pic looks like it's been attacked by some sort of midget bear.

Engine bay needs a good clean, original color of the car was white so will probably respray it white and put it back to it's original form.

Turbo is huge, barely fits in to be honest. Spool up time is horrendous but nothing a good set of cams and a reflash won't sort out.

Made up a couple of sample decals.

Then one day out of the blue the wipers started coming on randomly. After doing some research it seems it's a common fault for the connection on the circuit board to wear out. Replaced it along with a new fog light switch as the old one was broken.

Defi gauges, need to replace the sender on the oil temp as it's a bit random as to whether it works or not.

First major DIY job was to refresh the Brembos. They looked horrid before so sanded them down and then painted them with rattle cans. Far from a professional job but they look loads better than before.

Next was test fitting of the prototype polyurethane 4mm mudflap kit. Quite happy with these to be honest!

Installed one of our Subaru battery rods and battery clamp kits, same size!

As there was no water temp gauge other than the standard one we put an Auber Instruments gauge in, it's the perfect size!

Next job was to tackle some of the tatty interior parts. The previous owner had attempted to glue the door card fabric on leaving horrible glue marks everywhere so we decided to have them retrimmed, the elbow rest also.

And that's it for now, next update will be before, during and after respray!
