Cool picture of my clay shoot.

I hosted a clay shoot on the farm for a few friends and after about 30 minutes of constant shooting, I'm guessing the barrel was getting so hot that this started to happen. I luckily managed to snap this picture of one of the bigger flames!

Pic 1..

To quote Jules Winnfield ..

"Did you see the size of the gun he just fired at us? It was bigger than him!"

Very cool on organising that shoot, but I see no evidence of bigger or smaller flames in the picture above. In fact, I see no extra-ordinary occurrence in the picture. It would have been good if you had drawn arrows toward those invisible flames.

Cool. You look like a 50/50 of Andy Murray and Prince Harry from your profile, which is not too tragic. ;) :D

Honestly, cool pics. :thumb:

Turbohot 26 December 2013 09:34 PM

Oh, I've just noticed that the barrel has some flame structures on it. It could be a flame sticker like you get for plastic toy guns, for what we know.;) :D

leeds_182 26 December 2013 09:35 PM

Would've been even better if it was in focus ;-)

LOL it's obvious that I was jesting. :D

The fact is that LSherratt is a nice looking young man with a cool hobby. Also, he's truthful of his achievements/interests as he posts picture of himself with them. Not like some cyberboasters who say they've done this and they do that, but no evidence to show for.

As I said before, good pics, and glad to know he had fun.

Wouldn't mind a go at clay shooting myself.

^^ Bloody good fun, great day out.....

mart360 27 December 2013 04:12 PM

Going tomorrow for a couple of rounds of skeet, and mebee a 100 sporting :)

Must say its an odd stance for the gent in the first pic,

And where was the invite for the rest of us??

Mart:D

LSherratt 27 December 2013 05:09 PM

It is great fun, and thank you Swati :lol1: I did think his stance was a little strange but he's done it a lot before and I guess what works for you and feels the most comfortable could be totally different for someone else. I've never been taught but I've watched a lot of YouTube videos on the correct stance and how to hold a gun properly. I also shoot with both eyes open :) Too bad I suck though :lol1:

No one is wearing glasses!

Worlasshasansti 27 December 2013 07:48 PM

Nice pics!

Can't say I've ever encountered flames from the breach of a gun before lol, I was expecting the barrels to be glowing haha

Can happen quite a bit - esp with certain types of shells or heavy loads, mags etc.

This is why you must always use eye protection.

Your gun will need a serious clean I suspect after that day. :thumb:

I do have shooting glasses and we did wear them after we noticed the flames, but yes, I know we should wear them from the start and I certainly will next time. :)

The gun was really dirty afterwards, worst I've seen it. I thought it could have been igniting due to the build up of soot/gunpowder(?) in the breech? Anyway, all clean now ready for when I hit the birds. :)

All that talk of Heavy loads, mags and cleaning your gun - sounds like a w4nkfest

And yes you prob do need eye protection

mart360 27 December 2013 09:26 PM

Im guessing you were using a 28 or 32 load ?

Last time i used a Cynergy i shot 24 & 28's couldn't tell the difference

Gamebore 24's are good as are Lyavale i find they leave little residue

Eley's i find sooty & smeary

Mart

LSherratt 27 December 2013 09:55 PM

Eley Blues 24gram.... I used to use Eley Olympics but tried the Blues because the Olympics weren't in stock, plus the Blues are cheaper.

BOB.T 28 December 2013 07:18 AM

Last time I went shooting I had more luck with the camera than the gun...

That puts mine to shame! Although mine was taken with an iPhone :lol1:
