Upcoming: Newage Karlton Style Flares
In the new year we plan to look into manufacturing some new wide flares based on the Karlton Flare design from the USA. I know some of you have already asked me about doing these due to the amount it costs to import them (650$ plus shipping and import fees)
We should have some time at the beginning of the year to start making them, we aim to manufacture them initially in fibreglass with a chance to also offer a carbon fibre alternative. We wont know a definite price until we get them made but it'll be around £300 for the full set in fibreglass, carbon will be a bit more expensive around £400. Due to the different bumpers on the newage cars we will need to make a few different sets so if you are interested in a set let me know which car you have. ie: CarBen Fibre Creations - Blobeye Once I have 6 people from each model car interested I'll PM each of you, I'll ask for a small deposit and then we will get started on them. As always if the numbers are good I will offer group buy discounts, I will post up prices when the list starts to grow. I've been considering these for a while now, just can't justify the expense of everything else to get 'the look' at the minute

I know what you mean Kev its an expensive do to get the wider wheels that'd fit under the arches. I will try and offer the arches as cheap as I can under group buy discount rules to help cut costs :)

What about fitting will these need the original arches cut and welded? I suppose they will like the classic ones ? Do you think Abw would fit them as you work close together ? :thumb:
Also do I get an extra discount for you advertising with my car lol |

This is so tempting, but withthe paint, cut arches and some decent wheels I can see £300 of arches costing £1.5-2k:eek:
For the bug will they fit both the stndard and the prodrive bumpers:wonder: |

I was looking at a set of the 9.25" wide XXRs but some of the 8.25 or 8.75 without the arches but some rolling and stretching involved:wonder:
|
I have been doing a bit of reading and you really need a 10j wheel as a minimum if you want to fit these,
I am thinking that i will probably change to a set of XXR 521's on a 10j with a low offset. They are a relatively cheap wheel but still look good. Just rubber then. If you think about it all you need to do is get a body shop to paint the arches off the car then you can fit them above your cut lines on the body.... If you are sensible about doing this i think it could be done with a 1K budget in mind. |
I reckon the wheel with some decent rubber would set you back £1k+ on their own, plus £300 for the arches £100-200 for paint (and I have a custom lacquer so to end of that) plus cut and weld the arched, especially the rear where the inner and outer arch will need to be rejoined, and prime, paint and underseal to prevent future rust I can't see it coming in for a £1k:wonder:
|
I've done a lot of research into this and I would be running something like 18x11" wheels with an offset of around 15. 10's would have to have a crazy low offset to work in my opinion.
Also, are the 5x100 hub bearings man enough to cope with this sort of wheel? I considered swapping to 5x114.3 setup just because of this possible issue |
