Off to view a Impreza need opinions

Hi. I am off to view a Impreza and I want the advert scrutanised.

It is marked as a "STI Replica" It only has a Sti spoiler nothing else.

The colour change and engine change has not been reported to the DVLA.

No total loss claims made either so that part is good.

No road tax either or mention of any history.

The suspension turrets in the engine bay were not painted.

Is the car from this Forum?

rossyboy 15 December 2013 08:57 PM

No mention of the mileage the car itself has done.
Number of owners?
Near side arch looks a bit strange.
No mention of service history.

Seems to be a bit of a shed to me.

+1

if somethings seems to good to be true then it probably is

swaynie 15 December 2013 09:05 PM

Thats my thoughts on it. I do want something for a project and see ing a recent respray made me think rust free. I think ill scout else were but may go look just to see how good or bad it actually is.

Bet that paint job is lovely, just paint job is 2k for a fairly good job these days

Buy a paint job and get a rough impreza free....

If you see the words "replica" in an advert then that's usually a good reason to avoid it.

scooblet 15 December 2013 10:09 PM

reminds me of the fools selling the reps with roof scoops in rochdale

PADDYHOEY 15 December 2013 11:12 PM

Check out the quality door shuts. Painted check straps and door latches are all the rage nowadays. A fake roof turd and you've cracked it.

In all honesty, if the quality of the paint job is anything to go from. Stay clear !!!

They bought my old UK2000 that was a cat C, A week later it was advertised as an STI replica & they had fitted big rear spoiler & roof scoop also in the ad it didn't mention it was a cat C either.

I bet this white one is from same people

I willing to put money on it.

What a dog. That fact that is has had a re-spray and not in the original colour is enough to put me off.
Plus the fact that is has a MY97/98 grill and bumper but a P1 copy lower splitter just says to me that the previous owner had no idea about Imprezas or had any desire to maintain some form of originality.

Mythbusters proved you could polish a turd, but underneath it was still a turd.

I know we should be nice to new members but if that was my first post on a forum, I'd expect some abuse! :D

To the op. Go and look at the car and drive it and dont be scared to rev it . It might be a good deal . I would expect it to be a polished pile of poo, But for £2k what really are you expecting it to be. Only 1 way to find out .

quattroowner 16 December 2013 05:01 PM

I emailed the owner of this about a p/x with cash my way for a winter runner:

Hi it's all dependent on condition of your at as to what if pay, obviously I don't wanna waste your time coming down. If it was pristine I could probably stretch to £4000 for your car. The car it's self has come from a local trader who specialises in Subaru conversions, from what I've been told the engine is a second hand engine and had had cam belt and full service done when it had the transplant. There's no paper work but it runs excellent and pulls like a train.

Regards

Jonathan

To me that just sound's a bit far fetched for a trader or dealer to have no history.

Guy seemed honest enough to speak to but wasnt willing to give better detail's.
