----------------------- DIY Throttle Body Coolant Bypass Mod Throttle body coolant bypass guide. DIY Throttle Body Coolant Bypass Mod - Rexnet Subaru Forums (Permission given by Rexnet to be cross linked ) Last edited by ALi-B; 24 February 2009 at 16:06. -------------------------------- My question would be this: Option 1- run the aircon(cold) side through the coolant points now bypassed. Option 2- I have a small ex racing intercooler - use small 12V pump to circulate the coolant through the Throttle Body. Option 3- do a cold air intake to one of the points and force air into the Throttle Body - (a funnel should do fine) The ultyimate question is this - what is the best temperature for the Throttle body to be at while engine is working to see any gain? I cleaned my PCV today and found the Throttle body Very hot and this can obviously reduce power . Anyone else done any of the options? Thanks Bradley |
Just remove the pipes from the throttle and join them together, the water will still flow but you won't get any hot water pumped around the throttle. This should do the job without the other complications. Used to do this on Vauxhalls back in the day, but never really made too much of a difference tbh.

As above will not make much difference

Being a newbie. What the hell is this crap all about. The throttle body has water going through ??
Is it to Warm the air up goin into the engine to get to optinum temp quicker ?? |
i did the mod when i fitted a fmic, didnt really make any difference at all. i think its to warm the throttle body in countries where its much cooler than here.

Have done this mod as well and living in sweden with loads of snow and temps down to -25 have never had any probs with idle or cold starting in the winter.

Yes its to stop the throttle butterfly freezing. Any of the older people will remember carbs freezing up.
Unlikely to freeze in our climate but possible. |
Did this mod today and after getting back from a75 km drive- noce and cool Throttle body .
I cant say it has made a difference - but at least I know the Throttlle body is now cooler -over this weekend I have: PCV valve-cleaned- as well as pipe to three way connection. IAC solenoid Bypass Coolant mod Adjusted throttle sensor slightly MAF sensor cleaned. Car is driving much better. What I did do is engrave "Coolant Bypass " and date on the aluminium 8mm pipe I used for the bypass mod-looks good anyway . What about all the other pipes from the tappet covers etc - do I need all this hot air going into my intake ? If someone wants to load picture of mod I can send them via email. |
