Motor Insurance Fraud Warning - Bogus Company
Hi Everyone
Just trying to spread the word about a bogus company and fraudulent individuals who have sold me and a huge number of other people fake motor insurance. My renewal came through and I was looking for a cheaper quote. I was referred by a fellow scooby owner to a company he had got a great deal with. They were called: Personal Touch Insurance. They had a legit (looking) website & online quote system. They then "merged" with another company and became We Cover Any.com. They had registered offices in Manchester and it appeared were underwritten by a company cally TBR Assured Ltd. I received quotes my text message & emails from their customer services department and it all looked pretty legit. The long & short of it is they were a "Ghost" company. The main character in all of this is a bloke with a cockney/London accent referring to himself as John Langford, a.k.a John Racer Langford. a.k.a. John Cope. He is reportedly living in the Bristol area and he more than likely has accomplices as it was too sophisticated an operation to by a single person. Lee Masters Hughes is a name that keeps appearing. Anyway I contacted the friend who referred me and it came to light he looks to have scammed at least 50 or 60 people that we know of but I believe there will be hundreds out there. We have started a public Facebook page to try and track him & any accomplices down. All this has been reported to the police, Action Fraud, the Met IFED, Insurance Fraud Bureau and many other agencies. What he had done was taken at trade policy out with a legitimate company called Tradex (who are now aware of the fraud and have cancelled the accounts) and was adding our cars on to the trade policy so that when anyone checked their registration on the askMID database the vehicle was showing as "insured" - when no documents arrived and I contacted the customer services email & John langford all phone numbers were ceased & emails unanswered. If you know anyone who has taken out insurance with any of these companies please refer them to the Facebook page as they will have no insurance. The FB page is here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/204128919770492/ Pics of John Langford: http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2c816d2c.jpg http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/...ps530010c1.jpg http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/...ps61fea30d.jpg http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/...psd369f8da.jpg http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4636fa96.jpg http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/...ps87778653.jpg He is a VW T4 owner and this is his dark green vehicle. Reg is K497 UVU: http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/...ps249e9ded.jpg It's the first dark green one with the tinsel in the line in this photo: http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/...ps777f348a.jpg http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/...ps154ffb05.jpg He appears to be active in the VW T4 scene and messages have been circulated on their forums/sites. If anyone has any info about this man or recognises or knows of his whereabouts please PM me here or you can message the Facebook site as we are trying to trace as many people as possible who may not know they have been scammed. He has no care for human beings at all as he scammed a young disabled lady (Scooby owner) who is waiting on a heart transplant operation. We need him found as soon as possible. We have addresses in the Bristol area but think he is living out of his VW T4 van at the present time. Cheers people. |
Omg. Im sure my last policy was with him :|

i have a bit of sympathy but then again i have none at all
ive never heard of these people and it amazes me why someone would pay to insure a vehicle with a company you have never heard of on the say so of someone who had a cheap deal go compare etc is the only place to go for legit insurance (i work in insurance before you ask) |

Anyway I am not going to explain any more to people querying "how they can't believe we fell for it" - hands up we all did, we have learnt our lesson and are trying to bring the culprits to justice. So please only reply if you know someone who has used them, is "insured" by them or has information that will be useful in tracking them down including sitings, etc so we can hand this info to the police. Thanks |
Really? try Go Compare for a modified vehicle such as mine - same as all the comparison sites. They do not cater for modified vehicles. Admiral cancelled my insurance because I had "more than 5 modifcations" - The 6th one I notified them about was a pair of carbon fibre wing mirror covers FFS!!! - They could no longer insure me because of 2 bits of plastic and I was too high a risk.....aged 46 with 19 years NCB, more security than the NSA and a big fookin angry German Shepherd. The specialists such as Keith Michaels, A-Plan, Sky, Adrian Flux, etc are the only places for a decent quote on modified vehicles. Most of the people scammed were young people who's 1st insurance it was with no NCB (just like Veerinder9), or people with very modified vehicles, like me. The quotes weren't so cheap as to raise suspicion - mine was only £90 cheaper than A-Plan.

Thanks[/QUOTE] Agree with that absolutely, you've got almost no chance of getting a quote from the comparison sites with even a lightly modified car. Do you remember Jeremy Clarkson trying to get Aviva to "quote him happy" whilst driving the Veyron PMSL And thanks for bringing it to everyone's attention, if it stops one person from getting ripped off it's well worth it. Christ imagine if you had an accident that involved a death and you were facing a million pound plus payout and then find out you have no cover  |

Exactly mate :thumb: Trust me there are people out there we haven't found yet who are driving around unaware they are uninsured and the consequences don't bare thinking about. All I am trying to do is help trace them and the criminals.

Police are investigating and taking everyone's statements, etc - but you know how long these things take. |
