Can Mica Blue look good? Anyone got black wheels?
Never been my favourite colour but I've just bought a really nice sti version 6 saloon in dark mica. Low owners, condition, mileage and price meant it was too good to miss really. Trouble is, I really don't know if I can live with the colour. I know it's pretty rare on v6 sti's and I don't recall seeing any saloons myself, I've seen a few type r's though.
It has gold wheels which I dislike too, I'm thinking gloss black might be the answer. Anyone got gloss black on mica blue? Please show me some pics as I'm struggling to see the potential in the look of the car and I want to love it for all it's other good points  |
depends which mica blue you are talking about, some can look nice :)

It's 95h, MY00 V6 STi, guy refered to it as deep blue pearl rather than mica.

james, on yours, i'd fit these as a hark back to 1995 rally car

show us a pic of your current wheels?
|
Gawd no mate :). I can see where you're coming from if the car was an early one, but this is a version 6. Plus it's got large AP brakes that'd never go under them.

Current wheels are 17" OZ wheels (same as the P1) but they're gold.

White's not a good option for me as I'm not much of a frequent polisher, plus it's too much of a contrast against the dark blue.
Not sure I've made the right decision at the moment. Perhaps i should get the car wrapped white :D Keep the inspiration coming though guys, appreciated. |
Anthracite Turinis :) failing that gloss black :)
|
Gloss black must be the answer for me, that way at least it'll make the car's paint seem lighter in contrast.
It's a good colour when it's polished and the sun is out, but the majority of the time neither happen much lol. |
Mica blue is one of the best colours IMO. Here is a couple pics of my old scooby. I do miss her....

It's my fave colour
My wheels are ford sea grey , they have a blue tint to them and look nice in the sun http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ps0f4d6bbd.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...psbde8b16d.jpg |
Darker looks good to me. I'm thinking very dark refurb on my current OZ P1 style rims. Black gloss looks nice but does tend to make the tyres look rubbish unless they're always dressed.
Not even sure if my car is the same shade as the uk ones, I know it's 95h but sure I've read people saying there's different shades of 74f so wonder if it's the same on the Sti. Think the V6 Sti is the only Sti to get mica blue pearl, certainly never seen it on any earlier Sti's |
I'd go for something that contrasts with the body colour e.g. silver or very light anthracite.
I am not a fan of wheels that "disappear" in the bodywork due to either colour or lowering. |
Mines mica blue. I'd say gunmetal, or hyper black maybe?
|
|
Winston - the car is looking awesome as ever :thumb:
OP, if it was me I'd do the wheels white!! |
Might look nice with some anthracite old school MO 6's. Yet to see a Classic that doesn't suit them. And before anyone says Revolutions, I think they're just for folk that can't get hold if the real deal and don't look anywhere near as good.
|
Just bought a mica blue classic myself, really nice colour in the sun and when kept clean, more subtle too which i like. I will be fitting some anthracite 17" speedline ST2's when i get it so ill fire a pic up.
