Only gone and bought myself a scooby
Spent the past week and a bit searching all over the net and phoning up about numerous scoobies and finally found one I liked.
Went viewing it this morning and its mint. No marks, scuffs, dents or dings. 54 plate with 85k on the clock for only £5k taxed and mot'd. Didn't take me long to get the keys and take it for a test drive. Was very happy when I heard no knocks or clunks so put the deposit down. Could of collected Monday but I'm collecting next Saturday due to work. Only got one pic on my way out. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y10...psa52993a8.jpg Can't wait to get the keys now. |
Only 5K....... you say that like it was cheap.
Looks nice though buddy. |
Last time I drove past there they had an Evo X in for £18k or so.
OP has got a nice car there but that's very much a dealer price he's paid for it. |
I hope you paid cash as otherwise that is a very expensive 9 year old blob wrx matey. Good luck with it though.
|
£5k is cheap compared to some of the cars I have looked at the past week. I have seen scoobies that have been ruined and the guys want back every penny they have spent ruining them.
|
Yeah it was a cash deal.
I much prefer paying a little extra knowing the car is fine than paying slightly less and have to do work on it straight away which I have done in the past. |

Better to pay for a well cared for car that you know won't give you trouble than one that's been "badly modified" with the usual tat. Do you have any plans for mods yourself? These cars do well with uprated front brakes, and a panel filter upgrade / exhaust / remap. |
First of all is to now pay my wedding off to keep my fiancée happy lol.
Not to sure what to do with it yet. But defiantly exhaust and remap is on the cards. And now you have mentioned it I might do the brakes aswell. What is the panel filter upgrade? Any links? |
Panel filter vs Cone filter.
Have a look on here, there are lots of different makes. http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog...hp?cPath=47_66 I used to run a simota on my newage cars, I currently run a Cosworth cone cold air intake. |
Cheers.
Have already spent a lot of time on scooby world looking what they have |
Get in with Lancashire and District Subaru (Ladsoc.co.uk) if you get a chance pmitch.
If you're planning on upping the power the brakes really should be upped at the same time to be honest matey. You can get some decent discs and pads from somewhere such as Godspeed, but as you are local to the North West I'd recommend giving Brian at Cams Performance of Darwen (near Blackburn) a shout (01254 689994) and sourcing some Brembos off an STi, shouldn't set you back too much and will be good for up to 300bhp or so. He'd also be a good place to go for your engine stuff too. |
Cheers. There are few places around the northwest and I have even seen a scooby specialist somewhere around Chester but can't remember where now.
Always good to get recommended ones though as they usually have a good rep |
Queensferry,Silverstone autosport rolling road everything there .
|
I'm waiting for the 'you should have bought an sti' post.

I did exactly the same other than i bought private, I paid 6k for an 03 STI with 77k (which was a little more than i wanted but with the FSH and history etc etc and the way the guy was and the prev owner was i justified it) on the clock, unbelievably well looked after. Only a 2 trolley dings on the passengers door, which are getting sorted as soon as i get the car. Pick up this saturday |
