I could do a flow / pressure calc on this but I dont know all the parameters. Basically I want to know at what point the standard (MY99)DV becomes a restriction.

I imagine just full decat and a panel filter wouldn't increase the dumped pressure enough to cause a back pressure, but what mods would?

Im assuming this is why people like Forge sell aftermarket recirc DV's, to allow more flow? Otherwise they would be pointless

I think, unless you are running a higher boost level (where a standard DV might leak) replacement DV's are for looks and sound alone.

I have a Forge VTA fitted 'cos i like the sound, but get not other benefits from it?

Nick.

You're right on the looks / sound for an atmospheric D/V but a recirculating one wouldn't really provide any benefit??

npthing to do with flow. they are pointless. Its just for people who like silly noises and running very rich on overun for pops and bangs!

MB,

AlanG replaced his for a Forge re-circ. There's no increase in noise, but I'm sure the only reason for him changing it was the other he tried all leaked due to the boost he's running.

Might be worth asking him.

...except I found that there is a noticeable improvement in between-gear spool-up, etc. (boost appears to drop significantly less). This may only be the case with the HKS jobbie that I have - I haven't tried any others. The difference is suprisingly marked. Again, only IMHO ;)
