Importing a car from the USA

So im looking to buy a ford F150 pick up truck. At present a decent one sells for approx £10k plus over here. If i was to buy one from the usa and import it over, what costs can i be looking at shipping vat etc

Cheers all

Be exactly the same as Importing from Japan, You will need to get a clearing agent for when the car lands at the docks and they will work out all the duty and VAT costs. It will work out at roughly 30% of the car price plus shipping then you will have to put the car thru one of the ESVA tests before you can register it for UK roads. They used to have model reports but I'm not sure if they still do that? If they do you best make sure they have a model report for your car otherwise its never going on the UK roads.

When I imported my car the model report cost me £250 to hire then I had to buy an exhaust for emissions and rent an ECU.

Personally I would just buy one already in the UK as it will get pretty expensive importing it :)

Take a look on rods n sods and the Nsra site, plenty of people on there import cars from the USA. You may find what you want there:thumb:

I've got a American vehicle, quite cheap for the vehicle but you get slammed with import duty and vat. Light conversion was done tastefully and a few tricks to get other items past the SVA test. Insurance is the problem with only a few brokers willing to insure usa imports.
