turbo upgrade options? newage

alright, ive got de catted and mapped newage wrx wagon and im thinking of getting turbo and injectors done.:-)
What is best for me? Td05 or vf35.
I live in london so needs good pick up over top end i suppose.ive seen loads of td05 on ebay with toyo sports selling supposedly new ones for 218? And some for 500 and some 2nd hand for 120.
There are only a couple of vf35 which tells me maybe they are the more sought after turbo.
Let me know what you think or know. :-)

i would go for a andy forrest hybrid td04,should make a little over 300bhp but will spool like a scalded dog :)

or one of his td05 16g

stay away from cheap toyo versions matey

VF35 would be a nice upgrade for a WRX,they are a quite popular upgrade though for the REX but there are plenty out there the VF34 is the rarer out of the two.SJ.

Agreed about the AF TD04 I read his project thread in a magazine when he was first developing it and it made good numbers for a TD04 with immediate response.SJ.

i think scooby clinic do a sc32 now that will be just as good, might be worth looking into aswell :thumb:

Braveheart STI on here does a billet TD04 for £380 that will make 320/330bhp and spools like a stabbed rat.;)

I'll be going with Billet Hybred TD04 similar to that but of my own creation.:thumb:

Spool is king.;)

they dont crop up very often to be fair,if your looking at second hand go for a td05 16g and have it converted to front entry

they can be picked up for around £125 and it should cost you about £40 to have it converted, failing that go for a vf35 (£275 ish)

I'm quite positive that the AFTD04 is on a exchange basis or you can convert your own one to keep the price down.SJ.

Oh ok, yeah forgot to ask about entry? From your reply i need front entry but most are side entry yes? Is this because they were fitted to the classic? Im guessing! :-)

Talking about a TD05 I have one for sale if your interested but would need converting also,it just came off of my wife's classic, let me know if your interested.SJ.

stamina_daddy 09 November 2013 10:38 PM

Td05s on ebay, some say top entry so is that the same as front entry?

stonejedi 09 November 2013 10:44 PM

Yeah proberly it's like a metal scoop that is on the compressor side of the turbo, then you have your short inlet pipe with filter connected to that.SJ.

Infected by sti 09 November 2013 11:05 PM

Top entry is what is says "top entry" it has a 90' sweeping bend which needs to be removed to make it front entry, if you look at your current turbo your inlet pipe runs under the inlet and straight on to the turbo "front entry", on the classics the pipe comes up before the inlet and runs down the bay iirc.

Top entry

Front entry

You would need to cut the bend off to convert it, or buy a new housing.

stonejedi 09 November 2013 11:12 PM

^^^^^^ that's my wife's one top entry^^^^^^^SJ.

stonejedi 09 November 2013 11:14 PM

It can be confusing really it's top entry but at the front of the turbo compressor;).SJ.

Is spooling like a 'scalded dog' and a 'stabbed rat' good or bad?
