He's right though, giving up one's bonus IS a gimmick, they will see that money somehow in the future, and it won't be reported.

wrx300scooby 08 November 2013 08:48 AM

Michael Gove, what a tw*t he is!!!!

ditchmyster 08 November 2013 08:53 AM

He doesn't offend me to the point that i'd like to punch him in the face, and as RRGM said it is a gimmick from a man that is getting a MILLION pound bonus :cuckoo: which IS a p!ss take, so has made this gesture to deflect criticism, quite cynical IMO.

At the end of the day if you want the right people in control you have to pay the "Going Rate" and it sounds to me like this guy with his £450k + bonus pay cheque is not one of the main offenders and actually sounds like he's talking sense.

Myleene Klass :fight:

tony de wonderful 08 November 2013 09:47 AM

It's a bizarre world we live in. He could no doubt get paid for his 'performance' even if the lights go off.

It's the smug face and virtual threat that annoys me.
Let us do what we want or we'll threaten power outages.

ALi-B 08 November 2013 10:33 AM

Its a point.

I honestly do not believe our power supply is in jeopardy. More so that there is a conflict of interest in suppliers buying energy from generators and unwilling to readdress balance if there is shortfall by buying more from more expensive generation sources. The threat of power cuts IMHO is more to do with suppliers refusing to operate at a loss if there is a shortfall and they'd rather turn off the power rather than source it from more expensive generators.

Its a complex system where some retail suppliers are also energy generators, so there is a conflict of interest when it comes to sourcing energy for the consumer; for example they will only buy as much "green energy" from outside sources to meet their quota, and nothing more, as to do so would be more costly. Hence the wind turbines that stand still doing nothing.

If there was more energy generation, which they are all crying out for; it would cause a drop in the bulk price of energy; There is a conflict of interest here: as a drop in bulk prices does increase operating profits....BUT they can do the same just by hiking up supplier prices, which possibly could answer why these private companies seemingly are unwilling to properly invest in more generation :cuckoo: Well except EDF which due to its size and global control will have the power to dictate the cost of energy. In other words Win-Win.

Anyhoo, I'd like to punch Mark Austin

Yes! What a sour-faced, smug ****. He really grates.

He thinks he's it. He'd do well to remember his lowly roots in local TV for many years, before he made it to the 'big time' lol.

:D

joz8968 08 November 2013 10:47 AM

...And the forced-smile of the even more smug and pious, Alistair Stewart.

joz8968 08 November 2013 10:48 AM

...In fact pretty much all of the ITV News (w)anchors (although Ms Nightingale would get it).

f1_fan 08 November 2013 11:01 AM

Wholesale costs have risen 3% in 4 years, retail costs have risen 24% in the same time. He needs punching!!

Also on the list:

Clegg
Miliband
Cameron
May
Clegg (yes twice)!
and many more
Anyone calling New Labour socialists!
Clegg (yes again)! :lol1:

David Lock 08 November 2013 11:37 AM

I don't believe any of these top jobs are worth more than say £150k per year except a top surgeon perhaps where real skill counts. I also don't accept the "going rate" concept as I am 110% certain that there are thousands of decent managers that could run a power company or a council come to that.

There was the head of a gas company on £2m I saw on TV and what a prat he was!!

I wanted to punch that Tory woman on Question Time last night btw.

I agree with above post about that effing dog Churchill :thumb:

I'd also include Russell "I am so important" Brand

That fat guy who runs one of the big unions

I certainly wouldn't dream of hitting Myleene - a quick spank perhaps :norty:

Waiting for f1 to be included :)

Another self licking lollipop!

There was a cnut on Watchdog the other night from SSE being asked numerous genuine customer questions. One being would he eat or heat if he was in the same boat as them, he squirmed like a worm on a barbeque. They supply, transmit and distribute the product so how can they give customers the best deal FFS!

And he then failed in every answer to a direct question but thankfully he was only on for a few minutes and I managed to keep calm and not boot the TV in!

I can go with the sentiment on Ed Milliband. Everytime he opens his mouth I just want to hurt him.

Although i'd probably feel bad about damaging a prime candidate for the roll in the next Wallace & Grommet film.

I think it's being repeatedly punched that has made him look like that :lol1:
