buying a P1 need assistance
 

hi guys,
firstly my apologies if i am in the wrong place, but i am desperately seeking assistance from any P1 owners out there....
i am looking to purchase P1 no 545 and i have aquery about the stamp on the top of the front suspension struts... and whether they all say "subaru uk" or whether some say "fuji heavy industries" because the RAC write up back in the day said to watch out for non subaru uk ones?????

please help as i don't wanna buy a ringer..

Should have a plate on chasis on passenger side stating no. Also should have sticker when u open drivers door usually where sticker is saying tyre pressure sizes etc, stating subaru p1 uk( something along those lines)

thanks veerinda9....if it has those do you think i do not need to be too concerned about the suspension stamps??

Mine says fuji heavy industries on the suspension turret but it should have the build number in there also.

All P1's are uk models unless it's a type r replica which I doubt.

Id get a vin check on it. Check when first registered. And if its not an import etc. Should be ok to be honest

thanks scoobp1 thats what i wanted to hear..the rac thing put the fear into me suggesting it was a ringer....the car is pristine full history with a rebuild just need to take the leap of faith now....any other advice on things to look for?

Have you looked for previous owners/threads on the car over at the p1woc?

Price a bit high for that mileage without it having a recent rebuild...just my opinion

Cars are slightly overpriced on ebay to cover the 10% fees, but a standard rebuild doesnt cost to much to be fair and would still be ok at that price considering body work etc are ok

That's just rubbish, any car over £3500 costs £10 to list and £35 final value so a £5k car would cost £45 in total and if it doesn't sell only £10.

You would have to sell a car for £300 or less for the fees to equal 10%.

I sold aomething on ebay for 800. I got invoiced £78. So in my experience thats not bull****.

One wee word of advice, look through the service history and see if theres many receipts from scoobyprojects in Ledbury.

They spread there name about as THE p1 specialists and had alot of cars come through the doors as a result..... jist is they were mechanically incompetent and wrecked alot of good cars.

Im not saying this is one of them or even that if it went there its guaranteed to have issues .... all i am saying is that if it has been there, get it properly checked over for matching dampers and general scruffy workmanship. it wasnt unheard of for him to nick parts off customers cars to get other cars out the door.

Then it sounds like you were over charged.
