Rothmans Legacy

Afternoon.
Where to start?......Had a bright idea of building a Rothmans Legacy replica recently. Purchased a white Legacy Turbo. So thats a start.
Great shell, Brembo brakes, full cage, coil overs, guards, crap electrics, engine wont rev past 3k etc etc....before i start ripping the current engine out to start the engine bay restoration i thought id better at least get the thing running correctly and see what ive got and how the thing basically goes.
As it going to be a 'Replica' not really bothered about massive BHP at this stage as i'd rather spend the money on getting the rest of the car detail right. BHP can follow.
So, two things. Any ideas on the 3k rev limit. Been reading so many different things on this?
Secondly for future reference, what the latest, easiest, best engine upgrade /swop should this one turn out to be a pup.

ps:This is only my second Legacy (Last one in 1999! Yes i know many many years ago) but have had a number of Impreza's and this current engine looks like it could be an Impreza lump to me?

Thanks in advance

Dave

hi dave have you checked the coil leads are connected into the right connectors?,as i accidentally plug the wrong 1 before whilst changing the plugs and it ran ruff then swapped them around and ran ok.Have you connected the black test connectors under the dash to see if you`ve got any check engine codes?.The early legacy`s 1989-1995 ran the same engine as the 93-96 impreza just with a smaller vf12 turbo and a charge cooler instead of a intercooler
As pacenote says uklegacy.com has aload of info on there as i`m a member on there aswell as here as i got a 93 legacy turbo.
