What headlight bulbs ?????
 

So I'm wanting too upgrade my headlight bulbs , they don't seam as bright any more so I want too change em for something a lot better . I don't want too fit a HID kit I just want some super bright bulbs mayb with a blue tint I'm not fussed . Any suggestions ???

Philips Extreme, Osram Nightbreakers, Ring 120% uprated and Halfords Ultra Brilliance when on BOGOF.

All are optically accurate and give good white light.

One trick is to check the alignment of the lights, and I DON'T mean on a beam tester. Get yourself onto a straight dark lonely raod, or an unlit factory carpark, and set the main beams yourself. You may be pleasantly suprised.

Il try the alignment thing this week , my lights are that bad it's like iv only got my sidelights on .

How do you align your head lights, cos im wondering if thats part of my problem, low beam isn't brilliant but on full beam it doesn't seem any brighter.
Also, the bulbs in at the moment are these blue tinged things that give a horrible light.
Whats the best and biggest bulb you can fit that isn't blue ?

Im considering fitting some extra spotlights on the front, its that bad at night.

Nope, they just check beam pattern.

Martin: you haven't said what car, so it's difficult to answer your question about alignment or bulb choice.

Check out Osram Nightbreaker plus, Philips Ultra brilliance, Extreme, and Ring 120% uprated. Halfords Ultra Brilliance are worth a look when they are BOGOF.

Oh sorry, its a classic turbo 2000.

Just had a look whats bulbs its got fitted, mtec 100/90.
Never heard of them, but the bulbs have a blue coating on the outside of the glass.
No wonder everything looks blue when driving!

Ill get down halfords and see what they have in stock.

Higher wattage bulbs are to be avoided unless from decent manufacturers like Philips. They have been shown to be OPTICALLY poor, and actually to put LESS light where it's needed than a decent standard bulb!

Alignment of your lights:

There are hex-headed screws on each, one facing upwards, one on the rear.

Stand the car near a wall and watch what happens to the beam while moving the screws: I find a small ratchet drive with a 10mm socket best.

Then take it somewhere dark level and straight and have a play...do one at a time, covering the other with a towel or such while working on the first.

I tend to get the lights pointing in the right direction, (horizontal alignment) first, with main beams on, then do vertical, checking both with dip beam afterwards.

Replaced the bulbs with some of the correct wattage 60/55w.
Got the halfords branded ultra bright bulbs, made a massive difference, on dip there was a big improvement, but its on main beam that made the biggest difference.
I can't believe how bad the 100/90w bulbs were in comparison to these.

Thanks for the info, i had noticed the hex screws, so ill give it a shot and see if i can get even more out of the lights.
