Whine noise under heavy load in high gear
 

Hi guys

Just wondering if anyone experiences like a bit of a whine noise if they heavy load through top end of 4th or when the boost hits in 5th?

I'm not sure if it's the induction noise from my cone filter?

It doesn't effect performance and only lasts for a few seconds.

If I gradually boost through 5th it doesn't do it

My car is a blob WRX running a VF22, still using blue injectors

Could it be the turbo itself?? Is the VF22 a roller bearing turbo?

No idea could be? But I would have thought if it was the turbo it would do it through heavy load in all gears?

I just guessed at induction noise as higher the speed the more air flow needed? Just my guess?

Anyone of the night hawks any thoughts?

I had it on mine - it was a gasket between up pipe and turbo - replaced and problem gone

Seems I have a similar problem only mine os when I come of boost I drive it hard for a min or so and when going slow say approaching traffic lights can hear a whining noise pulls well though no loss of oil or no abnormality of smoke from exhaust
