Tuning Estimate

Hello guys,

So my gear box is a bit broken no my version 6 WRX STi JDM. It keeps popping out of 5th gear which seems like a problem with the synchro. Quoted just under £1000 for a refresh, removal/refitting etc.

I've done a few mods to the car, custom made exhaust with a tiny little back box, (sounds so cute), remapped by Bob Rawle to 330bhp. Still has the cat which I've considered removing but I'm not sure as I don't have a clue how that works with the insurance.. unroadworthy etc?

So I'm thinking, if I am having the gear box removed, is it worth spending some money on this thing by getting a light weight flywheel, new clutch.. and bringing her up to 400+ with some further engine mods.. (the mapper did mention the engine was in really good condition.. I treat her well.. services every 5,000miles, etc)

I have a sack of money saved for the car or for a new car, haven't really decided.. I often get tempted by just getting rid of the scooby and buying an S3 and growing up but then again, I love the burble of the boxer engine and the iconic image.

So.. basically, I'm just curious, if you guys were in my situation and had some money to spend.. let's say £5,000 (give or take).. what would you do?

It may only be the 5th gear nut has come loose

As above. Box doesnt need removing if thats the case

Can any competent garage fix that?
