Opening bug hid headlights to paint inside

Has anyone successfully done this to there bug lights? Mine have gone a little hazy, and as the cars off the road for a few days could ship them to someone who knows what they're doing. Want the insert black to give a darker lense look. Any help appreciated guys

Cheers
Martin

I did mine its really easy, just put them in the oven for a while then prise the lense off sand, prime, paint then re heat to soften glue before putting lense back on.

There are one or two guides on here if you search for them :thumb:

Haziness can be polished out.

Jeff want them slightly darker inside like the boys who do it on there blobs.

Goatblower- would rather let someone do them as the mrs would kill me for using the oven and if I cooked them I'd be in sh*t street as the cars used daily

Anyone fancy doing these for me

Martin, im sure there was a thread on here this week about detangoing and painting lights. I seem to think tubbytommy may offer a service when hes not supplying dump valves and fake roof scoops!

Don't mind doing it with you pal, literally took me about 20 mins to split my blob ones open. I was going to do the same with mine and reseal them but to be honest there was so much of the standard adhesive and it does go very soft they sealed up fine as they were.

Yer cool, you have my number anyway bud if you fancy it, Defo makes a cool difference to the look of the car I think. I scotched / keyed the inserts up, coat of primer and then used Halfords own 'gloss black' paint, I used that on my front splitter and my grills so it kinda all keyed together. Got a full tin left here I think if you wanted to go the same way.
