AFR gauge and Knock sensor ?

I have a V4 Type R with a Newage STI engine - 320bhp/289trq.

I am now living in Cyprus (North) where the fuel is appalling. I recently had the car go into 'limp' mode and the check engine light come on. 'Limped' to the nearest Jap mechanic and was told that it due to the fuel being crap after he checked for the code !

I am now looking for a knocklink or KS3 and and air fuel ratio gauge.

I am pretty made up the KS3 as it seems much better than a knocklink G4 even though the KS3 is a bit on the expensive side. But have no idea as to which AFR gauge - wideband/analog....??:wonder:

Any ideas  ??

I have a Zeitronix ZT-2 wideband fitted, excellent job. As for the knock sensor, I'm still looking as well!

Nice one Piehole - will check out the AFR now - do you find it useful - thinking of just using a knock link KS3 for now. :thumb:

Do you use the datalogging at all ?

Got KnockLink and LambdaLink on mine.

The LEDs are remote from both, the ones for the KL are at eye level round the outside of the fuel pressure gauge, the ones for the LL are along the bottom of the instruments.

KL and FP gauge saved my engine once.

Which lambdalink are you using Alcazar ? I am thinking of the AEM ones...

I do use data logging, very useful. I can plot the AFRs in relation to boost pressure, fuel pressure, RPM, throttle position and exhaust temperature.

What more could anyone want! Apart from knock detection lol.

It's a big peace of mind for me as I'm still playing with everything on my car. My next purchase is an ESL board so the ZT-2 will be a hugely valuable piece of kit for mapping!

Both mine are made by LINK, an Ozzie company afaik. My ecu is a LINK one too.

I think I will go for the Link G4 and an AEM wideband AFR -

Saying that - I have read somewhere that I have to get a specific AEM AFR for the V7 engine I have in mine as opposed to the classic EJ20. Am I right ?

Which AEM is the one I am supposed to get ? And would I have to link this to the ECU to datalog?

Thanks for the input all.

Hi there

Depends on budget and on yours mapper, from this I would decide on the ECU

Some ECU like Syvecs has have on board Wideband, knock control and datalogging plus many other functions, which you can use(ALS,LC,12 maps) or you will don't use

If you will go with Syvecs then you will need just Wideband sensor(NTK) or if you will decide go with AEM(which you can use on yours without the problem),then is no problem to wire the AEM to the Syvecs and use this for Wideband control,is up to you

On Link you don't have Knock control, yes you can buy extra Knock Module, but its cost extra £300-£400 plus

Datalogging have on board G4

Not sure how much cost Link G4,but still I would choose Syvecs
