Without Remorse for me, the only book I would read once a year and enjoy it as if it was the first time I'd read it.

A great loss.

My second favourite author, prefer Vince Flynn but he died in June this year as well.
Both will be missed, but looking forward to the Tom Clancy film in Dec

This is the book I think of when doing distance swims in open water!

Yep, some truly great novels but the later ones started to feel a bit samey.

I tuned out once we started to get to Red Rabbit and such. The original books for me were the best.

I'm actually a bit gutted that I lost my copy of Without Remorse. I've been looking for a first edition or something that isnt perfect bound, so I can make my own cover and case it in.

Sad news. Red Storm Rising was the first book I read after quite a while of not reading. It had me enthralled and I finished it in three days, then immediately re-started it. I also used to pass time on long night shifts by reading specific scenarios each night. Went on to read all the Jack Ryan books up to Without Remorse, then drifted away from reading again which I must reverse. He inspired me to check out similar techno-thriller authors such as Dale Brown and Payne Harrison. The Ryan movies seemed to falter after Patriot Games, which was a shame. I hope the new one is a fitting tribute.
