Turbohot 03 October 2013 09:41 PM

Do you want something seriously wicked? :)

Have it! >

I heard that record in my car today whilst stuck in the traffic to work. Quite hypnotic and distracting from "same sh!t, different day" annoyances.

Don't SIAL and/or label it with "It was good in 1851" ridicule, Jamie. It's evergreen material, and you know that.

Sorry but to me that sounds shockingly bad. It seems to be a poor/immature version of the Kraftwerk stuff I used to listen to in the 1980s

What it is Ding that you have a different taste. I have no problem with progressive electronic music, and Leftfield is regarded as one of the quality music makers in that genre.

What do you like? Rhythm & Blues? Please let us hear one of your favourites. I quite like this genre as well, so I might appreciate it, too.

Go on. Let's hear what you like.

Oh, on Snakeblood, I don't think it sounds like 80's sh!te. it may do, to you- and I respect that. :lol1: it's absolutely banging on top quality BOSE speakers, but you have to like this sort of music to appreciate it, you see. Otherwise, you'll simply end up with a headache.

Turbohot 03 October 2013 10:22 PM

Here's another one from 1995>

Some evergreen massive tunes in it. They sounded good, then. They sound ok even now.

You misunderstand me Turbo:)

I love electronica, that's why I was listening to Kraftwerk and the early electro from New York etc in the late 70s/early 80s. This was the birth of dance orientated electronic music imho and I followed it's progression all the way through the years.

Even now 90% of the music I listen to could be classified as 'electronic dance'

The issue is some of the so called modern electronic music has not moved on or progressed or offers anything different to the stuff I was listening to in the late 70s/80s.

There is nothing wrong with it but to my ears it sounds like I've heard it all before about 30 years ago.

Just as a very quick example here was a tune that was a fave of mine from the early 80s. Try and listen to it through some proper speakers/headphones rather than your computer

Another

A great one to spin on your head to:D

Not sure why this last one isn't loading, do google it though as it's a wicked tune

Now I'm off to do some body popping and robot dancing in front of the mirror:lol1:

I find that bands like Leftfield are very different to the 80's electro. But if they sound like poor version of Kraftwerk to you, it can't be helped. it doesn't; to me.

Well, you did say that it sounded like a very bad/poor version of Kraftverk. It does translate that you found something wrong with it. I don't mind, as you're entitled to your views. If it sounds to you like you've heard it all before about 30 years ago, you clearly aren't listening to 90% electronic pop. If you did, you wouldn't call that Leftfield number poor.

Man Parrish - Hip Hop, Be Bop (Don't Stop) [HQ] - YouTube
^ This one is the evergreen sort, agreed. Gets used forever as a theme music here n' there.

Another

COD 'In The Bottle' (Emergency 1983) - YouTube

Hashim - Al Naafiysh (The Soul) - YouTube
^ Both absolutely dated and diabolical.
Cybotron - Clear - YouTube

^OK-ish.

A great one to spin on your head to:D

Arthur Baker-Breaker's Revenge - YouTube
Not sure why this last one isn't loading, do google it though as it's a wicked tune
No offence but it's^ truly revolting. It wouldn't get me going, even if I rewound my life to the cheesy 80's.

Now I'm off to do some body popping and robot dancing in front of the mirror:lol1:
Now you're talking^. :thumb: :D

Try some of these complex moves away from the usual breakdance, Ding(as below). Hear out this cracking synthpop tune I used play a lot in the 80's. Shame the dancer guy Jimmy Mcshane died at 37 in 1995. I only found out a minute ago on internet. What a dancer.

Still can't beat Michael Jackson, though.

Please feel free to call the Tarzan Boy sh!te. :thumb: :D

Dingdongler 04 October 2013 07:36 PM

Ok, so basically you know nothing about electronic dance music or its history, evolution etc

Don't worry, it's not worth us getting into an argument about.:)

So, basically, you're saying that I know nothing, but you know better about electronic dance music or its history, evolution etc. Perhaps you do, and it doesn't upset me or anything.:D Personally, I rely on my ears. Electro has moved on, and I'm no learned musician or a DJ to absolutely pin-point how exactly it has moved on. My ears tell me that there is certainly a difference between the 80's electro-tunes and that of the 90's. Of course there's going to be a resemblance; it was only a decade before the 90's, and that cannot be denied.

I'm not worried about anything, and yes, that there's no point agruing. We all like different things, and we're all entitled to our opinions and onions etc. :thumb:
