Tuning - where to start?
So picked up a blobeye wrx at the weekend and just wanted to know what the best bang for bucks mods are from standard??

Brakes a good set of tyres then go from there :)

A days driver instruction at a good advanced driving school..
and Im not taking the piss meaning BSM etc. Learning HOW to drive fast is better and cheaper then a average driver in a fast car. |

Or just get a loud exhaust - you wouldn't be the first ;) |
+1 for brakes. its the boring answer that you dont want to hear but the brakes are horrendous as standard and cant stop these cars even on standard power before the engine mods even begin. mine near ploughed into a driver who suddenly pulled out of slow moving traffic into the fast lane. i barely managed to pull up in time and knew from that moment the brakes had to be upgraded.

Cool brakes are defo on the list peeps will grooved discs, decent pads and braided lines be ok for brakes to start with? Or as all my discs and pas are virtually brand new could I just get away with decent pads and braided lines?
Coilies are also defo on the agenda Would just a back box, decat up pipe and panel filter require a remap?? |
Get some decent pads and fluid in for a start, then sort the handling as it's woe -full at anything approaching the limit, understeering piece of crap, in fact I don't know how people drive these things as standard and think they are good, must have driven some real shoite before to think that subaru's handle well out the box.:lol1:
As above it's not the exciting mods but the essential ones that should come first, that way you learn to drive the car the way it needs to be driven before you up the power. Power is nothing without control.;) Forget the decat up pipe for now as that's the bit that needs mapping for and really wants to be done altogether along with a few other bits then map for everything at once if that's the route you decide to go down. |
