waste of time, id say the decision was a financial one on the part of subaru and the fact the wrc is dying on its arse.

on a plus point though at least the bellends that insist on covering their cars in wrc stickers (cause its a rally car innit)could actually say subaru still rally cars.

^^^ What he said.
Plus sentimentality has no part to play in a very expensive sport.

Gear Head 30 September 2013 08:43 AM

Agreed.

Plus, there will be no Impreza Turbo available in the UK in the coming months.

So what will they be trying to sell through WRC then?? :wonder:

WRC is dying on its arse because of one man, a bit like F1!

So at what point is it exceptable to have WRC grafix ?

If you own a genuine WRC car and are in WRC getting sponsorship money ;):p

There's no way Subaru will come back in it, the money the teams lose is just to vast, hence why Honda, BMW pulled out of F1.
They don't gain enough out if it anymore people but there cars regardless if there in WRC or not.

WRC died a long time ago, there were only two manufactures for a considerable period of time for example.

Subaru_Freak 30 September 2013 10:20 AM

Yes, but both Mitsu and Subaru are supposedly testing in R4.

There will be no turbo Impreza because they are changing the chassis over. The next generation chassis is supposedly WRX / STI specific and will be unveiled in 2 months at the LA Car Show. US orders for the 2014 model A-Spec were crammed into a few month window, but the 2015 model should feature the new chassis.

I'm expecting a 320 - 340 BHP Turbo 2.0L motor based on the new BRZ engine platform. It will be similar to the current EJ207, but vastly different than our EJ257 motors.

People would have never thought that Toyota would be a major sponsor of NASCAR before they did it.

I do think that Subaru will get back in it, and by doing so, may revive it. They don't really have much else going for them, and they are flush with cash thanks to record sales in the NA market.

To buy an STI back in 2011 you literally had to walk into the dealership with your checkbook and buy whatever was on hand. There was little choice, and it took me nearly 3 months to get one that I wanted.

TonyBurns 30 September 2013 10:48 AM

You may have record sales in the states but they sold 48 cars last month in the UK, yup 48!!

Tony:)

So a replica even if it has all the right bits shouldn't have WRC grafix as its never been in a WRC ? Is that regardless of how close it is to a proper wrc car ? Not talking a average road going one but one that's had a small fortune getting as close as possible ?

Just curious on why the hate for the WRC grafix as iv been building a rep for a while now and plan to have the WRC grafix put on when finished as it will complete the look of the car ,,, but the only thing not really going to be proper wrc is the gearbox so am I still going to be in the firing line ?

EssexJamie 30 September 2013 11:45 AM

I personally just don't get why anyone one would want the stickers, making your car look like a WRC is cool ie bumpers, wide arches etc.

But the stickers are for cars that have been sponsored to have them stuck on, I'm just not a fan I think it makes a road car look cheap and tacky......but then I don't get it when people where pit crew tops from F1 just my opinion to be honest!

But it's your car you should do what you want to it, I wouldn't openly slate it.
I would say nice car graphics ain't for me!

Flush with cash perhaps, but now also a large following of customers in the US that hate them perhaps?

Why would you want to put graphics on anyway?
Are you very young perhaps?

Will you be putting a sticker with someone else's name on the rear seat windows?

Mate i'd just say fcuk em all and do what you want to your car, you don't need anyones approval and least of all the haters on here.

If it's what you like and want to do then go for it, best of luck to you and enjoy.:thumb:

33 so some will say old some will say young lol,,, iv always loved the wrc scoobs and the look of the subaru wrc grafix ,,, don't think I'm good enough to get sponsored by them or have the money to buy a "real" WRC scoob so the next best thing is to build one and get it as close as I can ,,rear window will have my name on it lol, I honestly don't mind people not liking it but don't think that its a average road car with just sme stickers on the outside as there is hardly anything left of the original car :norty:

JC-R 30 September 2013 12:25 PM

Yeeeeeah , ive got the wrc stickers on my type r and i really do think it looks great ! But im not into the rest i.e ken block grafix or the monster energy etc etc. And when i do get round to taking the stickers off it would be like getting another car, well nearly :thumb:

I don't mind and was curious as to why no one likes them as I think they look cool ,,, don't take that as I think they look good on a average road car as I also think you should have just as much go as you do show and that's the reason iv built the car to suit the grafix (well IMO)

urban 30 September 2013 12:28 PM

Look, each to their own and all that.
But at the end of the day, what you have is just a road car with a whole lot of bits either taken out or replaced with something else.
Engine still the same, as it gearbox.

Gearbox is all that is the same as I can't offend one just yet lol but the rest is about right ish,,, so how do they build a proper wrc car ?,, name it its been done or being done on mine :thumb:

How much dollar have you put into your car ? I think the wrc cars was about £250k to build ? I agree with you about the stickers not looking good on a standard looking impreza especially the sport version with a tiny rear wing, crappy looking front bumper and no skirts etc etc Horrible. Heres a pic of my type r http://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/...rutyper023.jpg

I thought the current WRC regs stipulate in line 4 cylinder 1.6 turbo power. Subaru dont have that arrangement in any of its road cars.
Flat four arrangement wouldn't be allowed to compete IIRC ?

Cant see it happening anyway. Subaru / prodrive have moved on from those days
