I bought my Scooby from a member off here a good while ago now and have been sorting a few things out. Now these details are sorted I am looking for a steer in the right direction from you guys with regard the map.

It is a 2.5 motor built by TEG motorsport with race spec headers, MD321, Full stainless, RCM induction and stand alone ECU as a basic spec, my issue is that my ECU light flashes on once the car gets to about 5.5k - 5.8k so I obviously back it off and drive the car well below this now.

Does this mean that the ECU is detecting Det in the higher rev band giving a lean fuel/bad AFR message?

I am about to fit a FMIC and am considering a set of Manley Rods as I have been told the Cosworth rods fitted are the limiting factor and will not take higher boost pressures or more torque than I have, so want to get this sorted before I do these mods.

The car has a walbro fitted and runs 1.45 bar on the defi gauge. I have 2 graphs the 1st showing 399.1bhp/427lbft and the 2nd showing 375bhp and 415lbft iirc.

Anyone with any advice would be great or any recommendations of mappers to give the map a once over would be welcome.

I'm guessing that the car has been mapped to use the cel as a knock indicator
I found that using it in this manner a little annoying because it can be very sensitive and on occasion miss leading , with the cel flashing away but no timing issues or counts to be found on the logs
This is not to say it should be ignored , but it can be a little over sensitive
It's not giving a lean messege , it's giving a messege of a timing or knock count
Which of course could be caused by a lean issue
You are seeing this at the top end of the range and if it's been mapped in a way you would say close to the edge i wouldn't be suprised to see pulled timing at the top end of the rev range
Obviously when your closer to the edge everything has to be spot on and little things can have an affect , fuel quality , air temps could even have an affect
You should get it checked out , and maybe like you've said , back off a little
But I wouldn't be over concerned

I know from my evo days the light flashes on a count of 2 or 3 as it is a sensitive ecu and can detect it even before det cans but they can safely run towards double figures on the count.

I was led to believe though on a scooby the tolerance on knock is alot lower before issues ensue so what you've said helps to ease my mind a bit.

Who are the recommended north west mappers that can log it and see what is what?

Would assume its on an apexi or alcatek ecu as they flash the engine light as a det warning.

What fuel are you running it on as it might be mapped for better fuel.

You could be correct though, as the OP may have mis-understood something in the spec.

I'll try to dig out the receipt that says what ecu it is on tuesday when I get back to work but I know it's not apexi. I would be guessing without looking to be honest.

The car runs on shell optimax at all times as the lad I bought it from said it was mapped for that. I don't use octane boosters though. The car is mapped for switchable anti lag and launch control, which I have never used.

I use the rev counter light as the shift light set at 4k for everyday driving.

I think it is a simtek but didn't want to say without checking just in case. I am new to the subaru tuning scene and my old cossie and evo mappers don't do subaru so I am looking for someone who can check it
