Took this blob for a test drive today
 

Took this scooby for a test drive today, they just chucked me the keys and let me take on my own. I had never driven an sti 6 speed one of these before so that was the main reason i took it for a spin just to see what it went like. From what i could see the only mods are PPP, bigger top mount , induction kit and bc coilovers and carbon fibre bits. It really drove lovely, really smooth and whoevers had it has really looked after it. But i wasnt impressed with the power , felt pretty slow 0-70 , Thaught it would be pretty punchy being an sti with PPP but its not, Its just begging for a remap and a few supporting mods. Spose ive just got used to big power cars. :wonder:

a bit over priced me thinks,a good blob sti with decent mods and around 350bhp can be had for as little as £6500 ish

On another note what power are you used to in your current or ex Scoobys?

My first scoob blobeye wrx with an sti lump was 320 bhp
My second scoob hawkeye wrx 408 bhp
then Evo 10 FQ 360 with indigo gt remap 400 bhp
Now ive got R35 gtr 480 bhp and a scoob type r 382 bhp
2 x celica gt4's both approx 300 bhp

I wasnt expecting it to be anything like the cars iv got and had but i was expecting this blob to be quicker than what it was today :thumb:

A standard blob sti even with ppp will never thrill imo. It weighs as near as makes no difference a ton and a half and has at best, 300ponies.
To have anything like excitement in one you'll need at least another 50 horse power and in my opinion even that isn't enough.

This car also has dccd and carbon fibre roof which strangely they havnt mentioned in the add

I think you need to consider some of the 'speed sensation' is perception. The blob is more....shall we say 'refined' for want of a better word. Its more of a car in many ways I feel. Had 5 classics, and now 2 blobs........For me I need at least 400bhp I would say to keep me entertained in a blob. Where as a 350bhp classic can be as much fun if not more....and indeed even feel quicker.

However when you run against a classic that feels quicker (as I have done with an ex car of mine) I was surprised to find the blob was enough to make a difference quicker!

Just something to consider IMHO.........but obviously a car that weighs 1.5 ton, and one that weighs 1.2 ton, with the same power output is going to struggle :D

Think you are a bit out in your pricing for the mileage and being widetrack

No but when your used to a certain pull off turbo and a speed, it's hard not to compare it in your head.
See how there all more powerful then the Blob STI, and the pull of the turbo, the boost coming on quicker will make the Blob just feel lacking in the power factor.
I'm sure if you had a good map on it you'd feel its a lot better and give the grin factor.

IMO price is pretty good low miles, looks nice in photos (real world is different though) carbon looks good with the car in black nice and subtle.
Being at a garage as we'll increase price by a few £££'s.

Yup 6 5k is a clean narrow track money.

Agreed, you lot often knock £2k off the price of what a newage is worth.

A clean widetrack with low mileage and a full specialist or main dealer service history is worth at least £9k in my opinion.

A few tasteful mods and/or something special about it and it can nudge five figures.

Not particularly keen on this car but if the OP wishes then there are plenty of people on here who can vouch for a relatively low-outlay reaping a reliable circa 400bhp on stock internals.

I do think these cars are pretty quick in standard 305 form though, if you think that's slow then you are used to driving some pretty mega machinery!

Oh yes , it relly does drive beautyfull . You would never think it was 8 yr old , it drives and feels like its new honesly ! which makes me very tempted :facepalm:must resist temptation ! ive allready got 5 jap cars on the road !:facepalm:

Nice car in the best colour too, I still fooking hate the blue inside though, and blue is one of my favourite colours, but it's just wrong on sooooo many levels inside a car looks like cheap halfrauds seat covers, the door panels and carpet make me want to puke, no way I could get in one and look at that everyday.

Milage is good and the price is about right from a dealer, i'd still knock a few quid off that though as these cars aren't an easy sell.

Stick an SC32 billet on it and remap then it'll be a proper point to point tool, pointless going for huge power on a road car as your doing silly speeds by the time it comes into it's own, it's all about the 0 to 90 and what happens in between.;)

Oh and yeah STI's are slow.:D

Agree with the blue and black interior, My black STi is the same, just does not suit the colour of the car either, but a black Spec c interior in a STi looks :cool::cool:.

I would not bother with the SC32 as its a 320bhp rated turbo, and a billet version of a TD04, ok its small and will have a lot of punch from low down, but a waste of money, A good upgrade for a WRX, but the STi has a VF35 as standard and mapped with a couple of bolt on mods can do 340-350bhp if you do want to upgrade the turbo SC42 would make a perfect upgrade .

Would the SC42 be a lot more laggy ?

For people that understand Real World drivability the SC32 billet and the SC 36 Billet are all (and a bit more in the case of the latter) than you'll ever need on the road, anything above that and your in front mount territory which equals lag on a non twin scroll 2.0l regardless of what people will say, you can map some of it out but there WILL be a payback somewhere in the performance.

While your ringing the tits off yours and way beyond peak torque in the rpm in any given gear, the smaller billet turbo will be changing up and in the sweet spot again being catapulted forward at warp speed without any lag.

Slightly bigger bhp numbers mean next to fcuk all in the real world.;)

The bigger turbo will make up some ground but it won't be until double the national speed limit.
