Zeitronix ZT-2 install
Hi folks, I've been fitting a Zeitronix ZT-2 wide band monitor recently. It also has inputs for boost, RPM, throttle position, fuel pressure, EGT etc.
I have a couple of questions that I'm sure some of you have encountered before. 1) Where should I install the in line adapter for the fuel pressure sensor? There are two fuel lines at the fuel filter, can one of these be used? 2) Has anyone installed an auxiliary engine tacho? If so, where did you get the signal from to drive the auxiliary unit? I've seen an "engine speed check connector" on the wiring diagrams coming from the ignitor. Signal type is not important. Maybe this is useable? 3) Has anyone tapped in to the TPS to monitor and log throttle position? The ZT-2 needs a 0-5v input for this. From what I tell, that's exactly what the TPS will output to the ECU and so should be suitable. Can anyone confirm? I aim to connect all the above to log information while mapping an ESL board. I've already connected the AFR and EGT sensors. Oh and my car is a 1997 UK Turbo 2000. |
Bump! I've been relegated lol!

Hi there
I would suggest find the ECU wiring diagram, then you can trace everything, but without the ECU wiring diagram this will be hit and miss Have look on this thread http://www.rs25.com/forums/f72/t1969...-ecu-help.html This is engine and ECU swap to the GC8(in USA known as RS) Jura |
Thanks for that! I've already looked at and traced the wires that I think will work for what I need to do, I was wondering if anyone else had any experience in doing the same thing.
Looks like I'll connect my meter and scope to see what's on those wires when the car is running. I'll feed back any info on here for others to see. Any ideas on the best place to take a fuel pressure reading? |
Hi there
Are you running aftermarket FPR(Fuel Pressure Regulator)? If yes then you can buy FPR sensor from Tim@JT Innovation, not sure if this sensor is designed for OE FPR,but I would speak with Tim about this Here is link on his website http://www.jti.uk.com/ Or try PM him over here I don't have experience with Zeitronix ZT-2 personally Jura |
No, I'm still using the standard one. I just want to monitor the fuel pressure to identify any pump or regulator issues. I thought it best to be able to monitor as many variables as possible before starting to map the car.
I already have the sensor and pipe adapter, it's just the location I was wondering about. I'm nearly sure I saw one fitted at the fuel filter on one of the pipes but I'm not sure which one. Thanks again! |
Hi there
Not sure where I would fit Fuel Pressure sensor, but this should help, its for DeFi,but should work too in yours case http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=372265 Jura |
Nice one, thanks. I actually just found a similar thread myself :)
I'll get on to it tomorrow evening hopefully. The days are getting so short now! |
You can monitor every stock sensor using the multi channel logger n the ESL board without any modification.
|
Ah, didn't know that Andy lol!
I think I'll be in a position to order the board and software in a week or so. Can I see and log everything on a laptop like the ZT-2? |
Does that include the knock sensor now I think about it?
|
Yes, you get alot of knock information, the IAM, coarse map and the cyclical knock count to name a few.
|
Excellent! Can't wait to have a play. I've been studying the instruction/information manual you sent me to get a better understanding of how it all works. Also been studying the causes of and prevention of knock, also listening to sounds recorded.
Out of curiosity, any forum member discount going???? ;) |
If you have a good working knowledge of the manual prior to using it you are in good shape.
Discounts you qualify for: 50% off software cable and dongle. If it is delivered to a business South of the border with a valid VAT number, then the VAT can be zero rated, but not if it is delivered to NI unfortunately. |
Ah well. Don't ask, don't get!
Can you send me a link or information to actually make the purchase please? |
piehole ill be interested to see how you get on, im in exactly the same boat and not too far from you either by the look of things. Are you on any of the local forums ? i dont recognise the name ?
|
I'll try to take a few photos and write a few posts on how I'm going with it all. Where abouts are you? I'm only on this forum at the moment!
|
Ballywalter , down the ards peninsula,
have a build thread on reallymeansounds.com and scoobyireland you should join , plenty of folk would be interested in the project :) ...And if andy can do 2 for 1 on the ESL boards we would be sorted ;) |
Ahhh, maybe he'd do a discount if we bought at the same time!
I work in Bangor/Ards almost every day. I know where you are :) I'll pop over to the other sites for a look later on and maybe start a thread about this. What else have you managed to do to your car? |
bought damaged, rebuilt short engine , refitted and got it running , stripped it out again and am currently working on chassis repair. slow progress :)

Just a quick update on this. I've managed to successfully connect to and monitor the throttle position and RPM outputs on my car now.
I can now log and set up warning alarms for: Boost pressure Throttle position Fuel pressure EGT RPM AFR The ZT-2 is working well with everything. It's nice to see what's really going on! Just waiting on Andy Stevens getting in touch with a price/invoice for all the ESL stuff. |
Colin can you email me on service@enduringsolutions.com please and I'll process the order. I just saw you messaged me on ebay but trying to communicate on there isn't as easy as email.
Cheers Andy |
